500 (Abarth) The daily

Introduction

So, not content with having bought a mk1 Punto a couple of months back I just picked up this today...

Seems a bargain. 67k on the clock, plenty of extras which Ive no doubt Ive forgotten half of already. But from memory...

Xenons
17" alloys
Induction
Magneti Marelli bombadrone stainless exhaust

Ive just driven it home from Dumfries and it hasnt missed a beat. Its quick, its fun and it does not look or feel like a 10 year old car! It needs very little...a cap for one of the alloys (a tab broke) Timing belt, rear bearings and brakes done all round. Full service history and just mot'd last week :)

Looking nice. Wish we had bought an Abarth now. Was never the money to buy one but wanted a cheap running car. So went the twinair. Shame really. Never mind. Still fun cars and my wife loves it.

Any mods on the cards????

Having had it for almost a week, I'd agree :D:D:D

Just been nipping around in it, not even in sport mode that much as yet. Should have a new hub cap and pressed plates when I get to work later...down side being I thought I'd lost the retention certificate for my private reg, so I can't lob that until until the new paperwork arrives

Got some shifts in Dundee this weekend so catching up with Simon and both Abarths are getting a bath! Expect pics (y)

Looking good.. when white is clean it looks wicked. I love using iron fallout. Best on the market is bilt hamber korrosal and there auto wheel cleaner. Nothing touches it ?

Also get those suspension top mounts changed. Only cheap and buy the covers also so they don’t rust like that in the future . ?

Im amazed at how much rubbish was highlighted. Between that and clay a good chunk of contaminate gone!

Our local cats can be a pain. In the merc Convertible they used to sit on the roof and the hair was a pain in the back side. Even when you wash with a proper brush for them it doesn’t all come off. And of course the scratches they leave getting on the car in the first place.

Been making the most of some well earned time off..

After work on Sunday I took the Abarth to Glasgow. Didnt miss a beat!

Just went over the Cabrach (stunning) and caught up with an old pal before heading up to Dufftown. All good til about 20 miles from home...in an overtaking/crawler lane, went for an overtake and she hesitated big time. Then struggled much beyond 60mph.

DEFINITE lack of turbo. Began fearing the worst so pulled over to investigate. Levels all good, no smoke so reasonably happy it wasnt the turbo...then had a peek underneath.

Phew! Looks like a jubilee on the intercooler pipe has failed. She mamaged the remainder of the trip home but is a little gutless. Off to find a replacement clip in a bit. That was a scare! ?
