500 Pics of the wife’s 500 twinair 2011(modified in progress still)

Introduction

Hi peeps,

Well this is my wife’s twinair 85bhp 2011 Fiat 500. She bought it just in the new year as unfortunately we have had to down grade due to my ill health and having to give work up.

Anyhow it’s a low mileage one with an s/a box as she can only drive auto. Pain I know as I would go manual anyway.

Well this is a bit of a project fun car as I have permission to modify it . So I have started and will be a ongoing thing. Things I want to do that I haven’t done already are as follows really.

-remap
-full exhaust right through
-upgrades front discs and pad and braided lines(brakes I don’t thing are good at all)
-disc conversion on the back
-sports bumpers and side skirts
-all polybushed bushes
-tft dash display change
-headunit control change
-suede with red stitch all plastics inside(dash, door cards etc)
-red leather armrest
-parking sensors all round
-all dressing bolts , carbon etc in the engine bay

I’m sure there is a lot more still. Haha.

Anyhow I love detailing cars as I am a bit ocd with paint correction so I have spent 5 days doing this as a 2 step correction process and treating with gtech cystal serum and exo v4 .

These pics give an idea on how clean it is

Just has the car lowered on apex springs all round, tracking done on the toe but the camber is out so I have Elbach camber bolts ready to go up front then adjusted to try to even the negative camber out.

Also got some new wheels with Toyo t1r’s tyres all round. Went for 215/40/17s. Got 5mm spacers all round but I think I might up the rears to 10mm but I think 5 seems ok up front. For now anyway.

While the wheels were off I treated them with a quick da on the faces with a light compound to get rid of fine scratches that weee on them even tho there brand new. Then treated with a crystal serum coat the gtech c5 wheel armour for the last two coats.

When I put the wheels on it was silly not to paint the callipers and drums so I have painted them as you see in gloss red. Think it looks pretty smart.

Would love to hear your comments so far and on future plans.

One thing I forgot on the list was Abarth red front seats and also loads of carbon to inside. Also a full speaker upgrade.

Found some lovely mats to for inside. Not everyone’s cuppa tea but I think they will add some class .

A few other bits I have done are all the front lights to led crew. The main lights and full beam are fan assisted bulbs. Just had one issue with the led indicator bulbs so I have resistors to go on which I will today. I must say they were a bugger to do all of them as there isn’t much space to get to the backs of the lights and also the fitting of the fan assisted ones were a pain. You can’t use the existing bulb holders so you have to adapt. That takes time. Loads of it when you have never done it before . But worth it as they are sooooo much brighter than standard .

Your twinair looks really good there, you've done a great job so far. Good luck with all the to do items on your list.

When the lowering springs were done I put new top mount rubbers with bearings and top plates with covers to stop them from rusting.

Well yesterday(Sunday) I re did the wrap on the roof as wasn’t overly happy with my first ever attempt. This time I took off the side roofing strips and wrapped it right under. While they were off I decided to wrap them to in the carbon wrap. Here are some pics of the strips . I will take pics later today of the roof as it’s come out perfect this time. Well happy. The weave is all one direction and completely smooth

Well had a very busy weekend.

I have finished all the carbon wrapping. Also did the chrome strip on the window rubbers and the boot handle.

I changed a few bolts in the engine bay also for stainless Allen key bolts with red anodised washers. Put the Ramair air filter on with mikalor clips and an alloy 45degree bend tube. Have wrapped in gold heat tape but need to redo as need a thinner width.

Ordered a sport rear bumper so that will be here end of the week I hope all painted in 268 already so should just be a swop over. Nice and easy I hope. Will take pics the weekend as will be washing it then to and treating all the wrap with serum and exo as well as daing the new bumper and treating that to.

One day I will treat the leather etc inside when I get time. Needs it as the leather is creasing. Don’t think the leather is very good quality .

Going to do a service soon to as just started to stock up on bits, platinum iridium plugs, new oil filter and Castrol Edge oil. Just need slotted discs and ebc pads up front and for now new shoes and drums at the rear with all braided lines then a fluid change to dot 4.

Tbh Mike I haven’t a clue. Probably is dot 4 but I will be putting in Castrol react srf. Over kill but I like doing over kill rather than ok. Haha.

If my wife gets home this evening and it’s not raining I will take some pics of the car so far. Will be dirty tho.

Got the oil filter today delivered and also another goody.

I got from mike from ms some carbon fibre tubes for the back head rests. Really lovely quality .

Not had the chance to do anything to the car recently due to my wife working the weekends. Which means no pics. Will be doing some things this weekend to it tho for sure. So will get some pics . In the process of getting Abarth side skirts and front bumper hopefully but will need spraying so won’t be going on for a bit.

Been enquiring also about front mount intercoolers and also hybrid turbo for it. Would be nice to get around the 150bhp mark. I assume that is prob around the max fo the engine before forging it and not going down that route.

Right have a little update.

Done a few bits this weekend on the car. One bit was on the sport bumper I have wrapped the rear diffuser , and reflector surrounds in the carbon wrap. I also have done the rear Fiat badge in black, 268 white and carbon wrap. Made such a difference. Pain to do tho. Takes quite a while.

Today I got the car mot’ed and past nicely. Once home I change the spark plugs and I also had a mess around with the original air box. I wanted an induction filter so I made one up with a ram filter and an alloy pipe. Got the mikalor clamps to. Now as you all know with induction kits they all suck in hot air and that’s not a good thing. So I thought if I could use the original engine cover and I could use the cold air intake pipe to push and suck cold fresh air into the filter. Plus I think it looks pretty cool. Not finished yet as got to now make it in carbon fibre. My next step. Lol. Here are a few pics any way
