Panda Proud new 100HP owner!

Introduction

Hi there!

Recently joined the site as a new Panda 100hp owner! Got the car just over a month ago now and have read almost every thread there is on here about ownership so I thought why not join and show you all mine!

48,000 miles on the clock when I got her and have clocked up just under 1,000 very happy ones so far! With this being my first car and having been a petrolhead from a young age I researched my options extensively before buying and the panda came out as the best option between a Suzuki Swift sport (Horrendous insurance) and a Renaultsport Twingo (Horrendous MPG) and I couldn't be happier I went with it! :D

While the car was in great condition when I got it, I immediately drew drew up a long list of mods that I'm working my way through currently..

Done:
K&N filter
Uniroyal Rainsport 3's all around in 195/50 (Car came with 4 different ditchfinders that was driving my OCD and danger warning inner voices insane)
Painted gearstick cap slate grey with red numerals
Heko wind deflectors

To do:
Refurbish wheels + Get them painted black (previous owner had completely butchered them on seemingly every curb in the land)
Paint callipers silver
New head unit (Little known fact, 21 year olds can't survive for more than 2 months without an aux cable)
New headlamp bulbs (Stock ones are dreadful to me?)
Silver indicator bulbs (Cleaner look)
Ragazzon back box (Non group N, don't want to stress my insurance company and the neighbours out too much!)

To do at a later date:
Something with the dampers (Front/back/brand suggestions would be great!)
Steering wheel re-trimmed in alcantara would be nice
Possibly some Abarth 500 seats

The car was seemingly the best condition one on sale at the time I bought it and I have every intention of keeping it that way for my ownership. Can't wait to point it down some twisty roads (my local area is sorely lacking!) on a road trip with friends and learn about what fun little hatches can bring!

Look forward to hearing from any of you! :)

Hi and welcome.
Looks great. I had an electroclash grey 100HP for 6 years. Still regret selling it now.
If you do ever need any help with insurance at all in the future especially if you modifications cause any issues.
Regards,
Dan.

I painted the wheels of a silver Renault Espace using a steel grey wheel paint. They looked great but black would have been too much. The mid grey metallic Panda is too dark to look right with dark wheels. If in doubt edit (Photoshop maybe) a photograph and then judge.

I wish I was savvy enough to edit pictures! Hmm I take all your points about the black wheels though, I think it makes the car look a bit more aggressive from the pictures I’ve seen online but I guess it’s not everyone’s taste! What’re your opinions on maybe a darker silver like you mention?

I would not have the "steel" wheel colour on my metallic grey car, though I would have them on a lighter body colour. I guess for me its all about contrast and of course taste.

I painted my alloys dark grey (charcoal) on my black 100HP. Because I find the light grey too much of a contrast.
On a dark grey (electroclash) 100HP I would keep the wheels silver though. Don't think black will work. Or maybe highgloss black...

I've had a look at a couple of grey cars with the pandemonium pack wheels and I like the lightly smoked look, maybe something like that..

I'm (in effect) suggesting that won't work but what do I know. If you've seen it with smoked grey wheels and like it, then go with your own instinct.

My opinion is nothing, especially as I've not seen the setup you mention.

Sounds good.

Headlights.. they are just showing their age..

Circa 2003 :they were perfectly adequate.

Things have moved at a pace since..

Nightbreakers or similar will probably be the better option.. dont go too daft on wattages..as the few wiring nightmare stories will be bit close to home.

I've used H7 LED bulbs on the bike and been very happy with light quality and dipped beam cutoff pattern. Dipped is bright but not dazzling and always passes the MoT.

I'm planning to try some H4 LEDs in the Panda when I do the front end repairs so will report back on the issues. The LED emitters are similar size and same position as the halogen filaments so they don't affect beam focus. But so far I've only tried the H7 type. Can't comment on the H4s.

Just found this advert of a grey metallic with black wheels

I'll soon be having a play with my broken headlight and H4 LED so we will see how good (or not) they are.

Super bright Halogens are ok, but they don't last long and are not low cost. More powerful halogen bulbs are technically illegal and risk damaging the headlight due to excessive heat.

Yeah I've gone off the idea now to be honest, I saw the add a few days ago and the more I've looked at the combo the more I agree, it does cheapen the look of the car a lot! I'm thinking just a good refurb (the previous "careful lady owner" was definitely not careful..) and then the classic red calliper paint job
