Hi Can anybody tell me how to remove a sump from a fiat seicento I taken all the bolts out and I have been whacking it with a hammer for over one hour and it still has not budged.

Please help I only have one week off week to do this

All the best Shaun.

It's held on with the sump sealer. Heat the flange where the bolts go with a blow torch. Also make sure you have removed the 10 mm nuts(4, I think) IMG_7260.JPG two on the gear box side are hard to get at!

you need to get something in there to break the sealant. a scraper should do the trick. be careful doing it with a screwdriver as that can damage the sealing surface.

once the sealant starts to give it should come off easily (if all the bolts and nuts are undone)

once youve removed the gearbox cover ,there is one hidden bolt and one hidden nut.

I used a scalpel to run around the old sealant, and kept working it in bit by bit.

My new sump is leaking though so i need to take it off again and re-do it.... (n)

When I renewed the sump on our '92 Panda Parade I also had problems with leaks. After a few weeks I could live with it no longer so I decided to removed it and reseal. Careful inspection revealed that the mechanical fit was very poor with widely varying gaps. I had to really lather on the sealant but it did stop the leaks. Then spent a year or so worrying about whether any of the excess might break off and block up the sump oil pick up! In the end it was all OK though. As mentioned in the above posts, the hold of the original sealant is very stubborn. I have a pry bar with a sharp chisel end which I whack in between the sump flange and the bottom face of the block. You need to do it on both sides but once the hold is broken it then comes off really quite easily. Don't forget to undo the "hidden" nuts at the gearbox end!

The new sump I bought was a very cheap but substantial pattern made part from my local factor and I've heard that non original parts sumps are well known for this problem. My older boy's Punto has a very rusty sump, but not leaking yet, hoping it'll last 'till the warm weather next summer when I'm planning on doing it. I'm intending to buy from Shop4parts this time as I've recently bought some parts, including the steel water pump pipe, from them for our Panda Dynamic Eco and the quality was excellent.

I just bought the cheapest sump I could find on eBay and it was pretty decent tbh. It had 1 small kink that I hammered out on the sealing edge just to be sure, but it probably would have been fine if I left it.
