Hi I have 2012 1.2 lounge Fiat 500. I’m finding the lights particularly the full beam to be terrible. I recently drove back at night from Devon to Shropshire and found the journey terrifying. Twisty roads and full beams practically make no difference. Dipped isn’t great either. My mother who lives 250 miles away has been taken into hospital and I need to get down there but I’m too scared to go because of the lights. Please can anyone recommend specific bulbs that I can get changed and rough idea of where/cost as the only other thing I can think of is hiring a car which I’m not overly keen on but might be sensible. Has anyone else had this problem? I’ve Ben thinking of selling the car due to the rubbish lights. My last car was a Honda jazz and I felt so much safer. Thanks everyone

Check your headlight's adjustment is correct first should be on 0 I think it is within empty Car and one or two passengers

Other then that some Phillips extreme vision or oseram night breaker's and brighter bulbs you could fit

Silly Question but are the lens nice and clean? Dirt film may build up over time and reduce light levels.
Try and find a smooth vertical surface that you can slowly drive right up to from a distance and check beam pattern and brightness levels in the dark.
If you do go shopping for replacement lamps ( Bulbs-Grow & Lamps-Glow an Electrician told me once!)
The main beam lamp is 55Watts and type H1 fitting

Dipped Beam Lamp is 55Watts also but Type H7 Fitting.

Piece of cake to fit so don't go letting Halfrauds for example charge you anything to fit.

Oh thank you will check. Where would I get those bulbs from? Should I just google?

I’ve always thought how bright they are compared to my Juke

Really? That’s weird. I will check the headlight adjustment is on 0 I’m pretty sure I have checked this but I will check again.

ECP sell them.

Either the Nightbreakers or the Extreme Vision bulbs will be a significant improvement on the OEM ones; just don't expect them to last as long (I've seen 450hrs quoted, but many have failed before than and the warranty is only six months). It's a tradeoff many folks here think is worthwhile.

If/when you 'upgrade' please come back and report you findings ( that's if you don't sell the car!!) so that this thread may be helpful to others in the future.

We fitted the Phillips and they are superb and the dipped beam is mightily improved. Such a difference better than the xenons on my Golf .

Will do. Is it easy to change or should I get them fitted somewhere? Can’t be too hard?

That’s good to know, I’d practically stopped going out after 4pm in the winter... and that’s not fun :)
