There isn't much left to do, but I'm sure I can always find something to add.
Yesterday I swapped the manual window mechanism on the driver's side for an electric one that I'd had hanging on the garage wall for a couple of years.

Switch is a cheapo Chinese, so I bought two, just in case.
Decided this was a handy place to mount it.

While I was at it, I fitted a light where the window winder handle went.
I'd had a pair of them 'in stock' for well over 40 years.

A happy accident.

On the 11th of April, I was driving to collect a couple of plumbing parts for home when it started to rain, not something that happens too often in this neck of the woods. It got to fall heavily very quickly and the wipers couldn't handle it, even on the Tipo's whiplash high speed. Then the mechanism broke, to leave me driving without wipers for a very eventful few minutes that seemed like an hour.
At speed, the airflow managed to clear the screen a bit.
I almost reached my destination and parked up until the storm passed.

Upon reaching home, sin plumbing parts, I removed the wiper mechanism with the idea of fixing it as I had on once before, but found the motor to be damaged, so decided to replace the whole unit with one from my scrap DGT.

The happy moment arrived when testing it.
It operates just a bit slower, which is what I've been searching for for years.
It doesn't have that whiplash movement that I grew to loathe.
So, I still have all the original functions and wipers that don't aggravate.

Christmas came early this year.

oh!

that's interesting, about the pollen filter...

I recently bought a filter from eBay for the 146 (which seems to be an identical ventilation plant) as the picture showed it in a frame, which looked like it would fit the intake, above the fan.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bosch-In...008125&hash=item5b38455c07:g:a-IAAOSwuspY9kY3

However, when it appeared; it was just a large filter, like an air filter, about the size of a piece of A5

If you can make a success of a DIY version; I'd be very interested.

I was going to try and fabricate a two-sided metal frame to hold a section of filter within, to enable mounting in the intake, above the fan.
But I'd need the scuttle panel and wipers off for a day of two to get it right...

I've had the scuttle panel off and taken all the measurements.
The newly fabricated unit will be up and running shortly.
I decided it didn't need to be as big as the original, so 220 x 170 mm is my choice.
I'll post the 'how to' with some pics when it's done.

Just for fun, here's a short list of manufacturer's sizes for the Tipo:
Filter type: Pollen Filter
Stark - Meat Doria - Ridex - Length [mm]: 384
Width [mm]: 174
Height [mm]: 20

Knecht - Overall Length [mm]: 385.0
Width [mm]: 170.0
Height [mm]: 17.0

Purflux - Length [mm]: 384
Width [mm]: 172
Height [mm]: 19

HD - Length [mm]: 386
Width [mm]: 173
Height [mm]: 17

Dephi - Length [mm]: 385
Width [mm]: 172
Height [mm]: 18

FrigAir - Length [mm]: 386
Width [mm]: 173
Height [mm]: 17

Mapco - Overall Length [mm]: 385.4
Width [mm]: 170.0

Swag - Length [mm]: 385
Width [mm]: 170

Wow, great detail-

Thanks for listing that

I can't wait to see what you come up with

Here is what I've got as a fan intake- you can see where a filter might sit, I think...

I imagine that vent hole is probably the same size as mine (first pic).

Followed by 3 pics of the box I've made.
I chose to use 0.5 mm galvanised steel, it's more than strong enough when folded, apart from the fact that I had a piece won from a 1000 litre plastic oil tank that now contains rainwater.
The mesh isn't necessary, any type of grille would do, but as usual, I used what was lying around.
Hot glue or silicone sealant to seal the joints and some padded double sided tape to seal it when fixed in place with screws or pop rivets.
I'm still working on what to hold the filter in place, maybe an old modified barbie grill clipped on, or some windscreen wiper blade spring strips.

One important point to note is that the edge nearest to the dash is very narrow, so the base lip is around half the size of the other 3.

I decided that a pollen filter is OTT, so I've ordered a large dust filter for domestic A/C that can be cut to size, cost 5€.

Great work SFB

And I'm loving the leather gear knob.

So, will that filter fit over the top of the intake aperture, or go inside?

It does look very like my intake from further back.

The filter box fits over the aperture after lots of jiggling and cutting down the back and about 3 cm of the sides because it was too high to put in.
It's highly unlikely, but IF I did it again, I'd make the base just big enough to fit over the intake aperture, with the upper section at the 220 x 170 mm size sat slightly higher to allow good air ingress.
If you decide to make one, I suggest you do it that way, plus triple checking clearance before making.

The other fail was that I fitted 3 layers of the very thin filter material which restricted airflow by a massive amount.
2 layers was also too much, but one layer is about perfect.
The material I bought from a company in Spain measures 290 x 460, enough to make 3 filters.
Ask Google for WPRO Dust filter for air conditioners and air purifiers, or similar, it's made for Whirlpool and other machines.
