500X My venezia blue cross plus

Introduction

Hello.
A lot of you may know me from the punto mk1 section as my main focus is my exploit yellow punto 75 elx, however I am now the proud owner of a 2016 Venezia blue 500x 1.6 multijet cross plus.

I'm no stranger to the 500x as I'm the fiat/ abarth specialist at my local fiat dealer and was at the international launch of the 500x in Turin a couple of years ago.

Plans for the car, well today I had it professionally detailed, I've put my private plate on and removed the plastic plate plinths p that I can put the shorter plates on it, and also have ordered some 35mm lowering springs for it, so interested to see how it'll look with them on it.
Also, I may buy a set of mopar fiat mudflaps for the us version but I'm undecided on them as of yet.
I have also freshened up the calipers with silver paint and cleaned and sealed the inside of the alloys, as well as a set of genuine 500x mats

Some pics of the mk1, my dads 500L and my 500x....
Welcome Simon

That is a clean/lovely looking example of the 500X.

I think we will all be very interested in your input to the 500X forum over the coming years. You have no doubt already read many of the threads/topics on here and thus will be aware that we have more questions than answers on some things so your "insider" knowledge, access to 500X eLearn and general common faults etc. will be most welcome.

My personal direct contacts with Fiat Technical UK and Parts Technical UK have sadly diminished over the years as people retire. I have/had three left but am loath to exercise them (have only done it once in over 2 years) as they are all very busy guys and Fiat UK management no longer really encourage contact between Fiat/Lancia/Alfa Club Technical Registrars any more. In the old days I used to supply Fiat UK with "Model Reports (technical)" for the Strada Abarth, Tipo and Tempra. The Good Olde Days :)

Nick

Simon, that's a lovely looking car in the best colour. Ok, I'm biased as my MA Lounge is the same colour. Hope your kind offer doesn't inundate you with questions. I have one though - can you describe how you painted the calipers, they look very smart.

Silver hammerite, a small brush and masked off the pads and bits I didn't want to paint.
Always paint my calipers silver as it keeps the car looking clean and fresh.

Looks great Simon - I'm just about to buy the same for my wife. What bulbs did you use for the day running lights as I agree about not liking the yellow OE ones. Presume no Canbus errors etc.?

I'll be interested to know what lowering it does to the ride.
I assume your on 18 inch wheels?
I think I'd rather add longer or at least more controlled damper/springs but no one seems to make them yet.
Who supplied the springs?

Simon, apologies if I'm asking the obvious, but have you checked that your led drls dim when the indicator on that side is operating? They should also give reduced illumination when parking lights are selected.

It should do reset you hold it and the wee bar disappears off the screen.
The tpms on the 500x is done through the traction control and not induvidual valves in the tyres so it shouldn't come back on until the car moves a few rotations of the wheels

Or like mine.....comes on a couple of times a month for no reason whatsoever .....Tyres ok,pressures ok....I've just got use to doing a reset!

Away getting lowered today- just on my way to pick it up but have had some before and after pics from the garage.
This is a -35mm drop which hasn't settled yet
