500X My venezia blue cross plus

Introduction

Hello.
A lot of you may know me from the punto mk1 section as my main focus is my exploit yellow punto 75 elx, however I am now the proud owner of a 2016 Venezia blue 500x 1.6 multijet cross plus.

I'm no stranger to the 500x as I'm the fiat/ abarth specialist at my local fiat dealer and was at the international launch of the 500x in Turin a couple of years ago.

Plans for the car, well today I had it professionally detailed, I've put my private plate on and removed the plastic plate plinths p that I can put the shorter plates on it, and also have ordered some 35mm lowering springs for it, so interested to see how it'll look with them on it.
Also, I may buy a set of mopar fiat mudflaps for the us version but I'm undecided on them as of yet.
I have also freshened up the calipers with silver paint and cleaned and sealed the inside of the alloys, as well as a set of genuine 500x mats

Some pics of the mk1, my dads 500L and my 500x....
My US spec rear mudflaps arrived today so got them fitted.
Was an absolute doddle to fit, why fiat don't offer these here I don't know, anyway I think the mudflaps make the car look like its a wee bit lower

They look good. Rather tempted myself.
Did you get charged any duty in this country at all?

Did Fiat only do that blue (Venezia) for the 500X?

I like it but I can't get a good idea of the actual colour... in all Autotrader / garage ads and the FIAT online catalogue the colour looks different all the time between photos... interior shots of the dashboard always look much brighter and lighter - like an "electric blue"...

Few updates- it’s spent a couple of days in work due to non starting. We though it was the battery, but that’s fine.
Something was draining it so fiat technical suggested 3 software updates, one for the ecu, bcm and keyless entry which seems t have cured it so far.
Then it was vibrating horibly at idle so engine mounts were replaced and what a difference now- it’s like a new car.
Also purchased a set of clim air wind deflectors and potentially new alloys on the horizon.....

My battery was draining recently, wouldnt start or anything, It went in on a tow truck and the guy who replaced the battery said some models have a thing where the radio randomly comes on even when the car's turned off and there's nobody in it. He couldn't be sure but thought the radio was on when the car go to the garage.

As for the colour topic, the colours of blue and red change a lot due to the ambient lighting. Just look at the red's on autotrader or something. Sometimes it looks deep red matt, sometimes medium red gloss, and at other times quite light almost the other red with a tinge of orange they had on the opening edition (which I wasn't a fan of). Blue seems to be the same, albeit less noticeably.

I have to say I don't really like those alloys, in any case I think that 18s aren't a good idea (too harsh and blingy IMO). 17s suit the chunky car nicely.

I agree that ther Red is actually quite dark, if it was a brighter more standard red it would be hard to live with bearing in mind the area of bodywork.

Many of the red ones I've seen advertised have the red interior also, which is way OTT for me. Might look good as a contrast to the green or blue though...

My new wheels will be 18” also as to not muck up the tpms.
Tempted to get all the black trim on the arches etc colour coded but undecided

It's colours towards the red end of the colour spectrum that are prone to fading due to sunlight. Blue is at the opposite end and not prone to traditional fade from the sun. Red paint absorbs the shorter wavelengths which are also carrying the most energy. This is what bleaches the paint. Blue, purple, even green resist this more as they reflect the red wavelengths.

The blue fading was probably due to other issues with the paint and its composition.

My car broke down again, so it’s had a new battery under warranty.
And....... brand spanking new wheels, Alfa horseshoe 18’s.

I absolutely love the way it looks now
