There was no time to get the wheels to the Powder-coater but when they go, they will be "Mat Black" then CNC machined and then finished in "Mat" clear coat.

Wheels are back from the powder coater and are collected by the specialist that will CNC machine them.

Cleaned my 16 inch steel summer wheel set and put it up for sale.
Next summer it's 17 inch wheel time.

A new year, and new states of tune to carry through.

1) 17 inch summer wheels. (already in progress)
2) 2017 Leather steering wheel upgrade.
3) OEM 105 TA intercooler upgrade.
4) ignition coils to sort out.
5) a new try on a remap, hoping the ignition coils sort out will eliminate the problems i had in 2018 after remapping the 85 TA.

Everything is planned to be finished by the end of May.
i will make before and after comparing picture about the steering wheel upgrade and for most the 105 TA intercooler upgrade.
The OEM plug & play 105 TA intercooler core is almost twice as big compare to the OEM 85 TA intercooler core.

Interesting to know is, that the TwinAir turbo start to cut torque from the moment the compressed intake air temperature reach 75 Celsius or higher.
On a hot day, tuned, and with high speeds for longer periods of time that threshold is sooner reached then you think, and the ECU start to cut torque till that temperature is dropping below the 75 threshold.
The 500 TwinAir 105 intercooler is twice the thickness of the 85TA intercooler.
I spend a lot of time comparing both IC's and came to the conclusion it would be plug & play, even the hoses are the same used on both IC's.
Further i will look into the possibility to get even more air flowing through the bigger 105 intercooler.

Here a picture of a stock 85 TA intercooler, it's just around 5cm thick, the 105 TA intercooler is around 9cm thick, further same hight and width, same connections.

Yes. the frontside of the IC's are the same, the backside thicker and there is enough space.

Are wide big wheels and tires really killing topspeed. ??
Today with 150 Kg extra load in the car it all ends at 165 Km/h "GPS" speed.

In absolute terms, yes, as well as likely increasing the unsprung weight and compromising ride/handling balance I suspect. But if the improved grip and looks are much appreciated, then the downsides can be easily overlooked. Your increase wheel/tyre size is unlikely to have a big impact on top speed, as it's all relatively subtle. In terms of drag your dropped suspension will mostly counteract the wider tyres I suspect too.

Most likely the 150kg extra load and a mild incline are the likely culprits....
