I recently sent this to Customer Service. Any comments???
Dear Sirs. I have bought new Fiat cars since the 1980s, mainly for quality and design. My last 2 vehicles have both have dualogic gearboxes. I had no problem with the first one but my second one a Fiat Grande Punto, reg EJ56 JCX has left me with cause for concern. The car was bought new in 2006. In February 2010 there was a problem with the gearbox which was later diagnosed as a control problem requiring part number 0055222254. The car had done 18834 miles. I complained to Fiat because although just out of warranty I could not believe that Fiat couldn't produce a gearbox and control that didn't last longer than nearly 19000 miles. Fiat conceded the point and covered half of the control box cost. Case Reference 31517167. Imagine my further concern that the same thing has happened again 36000 miles later. My car is being towed to a Fiat dealer/repairer on the 13th February for further diagnostics but the control box is again suspected. I cannot see why Fiat cannot produce a gearbox/control that doesn't last for more than 36000 miles. It just doesn't make sense. I certainly wouldn't expect to have 3rd gearbox/control over a short mileage period. My vehicle is averaging about 5500 miles per year which is hardly excessive and is serviced annually. If this is the same problem I would hope that Fiat will again concede that any customer should not have to deal with this cost alone. I await to hear your comments.

You're barking up the wrong tree here unfortunately. This is a forum for Fiat owners. Its not affiliated or endorsed by Fiat in any way. You need to contact Fiat UK direct. They won't see your post on here unfortunately.

Read it before replying, He says "recently sent to customer service" ... and He's just asking for our thoughts/comments ;-)

I think it's only fair you wait until your vehicle has been diagnosed with the fault before asking for the forum comments. On a Dualogic there are a number of different components that can fail and cause lack of drive etc.. If it's the same part which has failed then I think it's then fair to 'let rip' lol..

Hi,
I have a Lancia Delta with 1.6 Multijet 120 (fiat engine) (200.000 km) and a selectronic gearbox (very similar to dualogic or selespeed) Can I ask you for your advise:
The system is running fine :) but I have had a small leak somewhere from the selectonic unit for about 2 years. I have replaced the oil in the selespeed and the gearbox about 2 years ago.

1. Is it normal that when I open the car through passenger door and check the selespeed oil level it is right to the top of the container, well above the maximum level. But as soon as the pump is activated the level drops well below the minimum level...

2.The pressure in my system is between 35-40 bars. I heard it is meant to be lower than in Alfas, but does anyone know if it is acceptable?
Thanks a lot for your advice,
Artur

Hi Arturro,

the dualogic hydraulic fluid level have to be checked using a dedicated procedure (see attached).

The fluid quantity is about half a liter, the accumulator capacity is 250 or 280 cm³ depending on the system.

I believe what you describbe is absolutely normal ...

BRs, Bernie
