Panda 2012+ New Panda Cross

Introduction

Had a Panda Cross for a week now, after waiting two months for it to come. I'm beginning to think these are quite exclusive - I haven't seen a single other one in the wild!
Hi Mark.

We've had our Cross for 18 months and haven't seen another one on the road! We live in Northamptonshire and have been to the Lake District, Peak District, North Wales, South Coast, North London and all places in between, not even a distant glimpse of a Cross!

Ha, you may just see mine if you get South enough! Hoping to see the Lakes too. I once promised myself I'd like to see Hardknott and Wrynose in the winter. Last time I was there was on a motorbike but now maybe I can think about the winter :)

I forgot to say, I bought the TwinAir model. I also put roof bars and a bike rack on it, so a couple of pics of those coming up. I'll also put up my video blog when the forum will let me link it.

Ours is also a twin air. We (my wife and I) think it's more fun to drive than any car we've ever owned. I love that you never see any others about. And it's really easy to spot in a crowded car park!

Oooh, yellow! Great choice! I've only seen one other yellow one 'in the wild'.

I took mine over the Wrynose/Hardknott earlier this summer. It performed admirably - nimble as a mountain goat - and its narrowness was a great advantage on those narrow approach roads, especially when you don't know what's around the next corner. The drivers of bigger 4x4s looked terrified, tbh, as they just couldn't get close enough into the side to let other cars pass by. With its wing-mirrors folded in, the Panda is an incredibly narrow little beast.

The yellow Cross we saw was in Sainsburys on Halifax Rd and was on a locally reg'd 16 plate,I remember because it was only a couple of letters different to ours so we thought same dealer ?

Mine goes over those passes and others quite frequently as I live at the bottom of the Esk valley, believe it or not some of use use that road to get somewhere! not just for fun! it's the ideal car for a place like this, small, nimble yet can drive up a house side.

I am envious of your location, although it must be a drag in the summer with all the tourist traffic. Regarding the ability to 'drive up a house side', I was mildly surprised when playing with the hill hold function to find that the Panda happily pulls up my drive (steep enough for the HH to kick in) in 1st gear at tickover. (Mind you, I was surprised to discover I had HH in the first place, as the manual is a bit useless :( )

Got the Thule wing bars on my Cross, certainly doesn't result in any noticeable mpg penalty. Different matter with a couple of bikes on though[emoji16]Just got back from an epic trip to Hawkshead/Tarbert/Islay plus 2 bikes. The Cross lapped it up, and no, I didn't see another Cross, saw a previous version and a couple of current 4X4s though.

Always thought the Cross and 4X4 looked better with racks/bags/boxes/bikes stuck on in various places, that looks mint, does remind me that mine needs a good wash/wax though[emoji5]
