Tipo (Classic) My 1990 Fiat Tipo 1.4 DGT G204XBC

Introduction

Heres is my 1990 Fiat Tipo 1.4DGT . G204XBC which I bought in 1991 from Swithland motor company in chesterfield for £5500.00, it was 1 year old when I bought it and had 10,000 miles on the clock, now it has 74,000 miles but I only use it in summer now, I did something like 15 miles since the last MOT !
Best car I ever had and according to how many left one of only 8 still taxed.
400k! That's insane!!

Yeah; I don't know if this is true; but I seem to remember reading in Auto Italia that the 5 door car was somehow 'faster' or more 'peppy' than the 3 door, due to exhaust fitting.

There was some compromise made in the exhaust on the 3 door, that gave the 5 door the edge.

That really does sound like total nonsense, and perhaps I've mis remembered it.

That WAS on the sedicivalvole, of course...

Mine was a 1990 td.

It had a torn cooler pipe..and dumped oil on road.
Patched up it went through 2 more owners..and used a LOT of 'Mazola'.. ;)

Rust got it after 15 years in uk

Just had a pleasant surprise this morning opened my insurance renewal from the NFU and the insurance for the Tipo fully comp has gone down £33.65 on last year to only £166.05 !!!!
At this rate the road tax will cost more than the insurance .

Somewhere I the loft is a photo of my 1989, F-reg 1.4 DGT, red, just like your one. Loved it, but it was the most unlucky car I have ever owned.

The dealer I bought it off, second hand in 1991, steam cleaned the engine and lots had to be replaced (thankfully agreed under warranty). Over the next 4 years it was in two accidents with deer and another with a lorry, each requiring various front end repairs. Then a slate fell off my parents house roof during a storm and landed on the car's roof. It was a bit knackered when I eventually traded it in, in 1995, for a M-reg Punto.

One of the Very best cars I have ever owned, bought at around a year and a half old, under 10k, £5,500, owned and loved for just under a decade, drove so nicely, planted on the road, comfortable, very spacious, practical and reliable, remember the first time I drove her at night, digital dash, illuminated column stalks and electric window switches on doors, looked and felt very futuristic

In the last photo, if you look closely, you will see our old bed on its way to the tip, so that's a double divan base, and folded double mattress, now that really is practicality
