Multipla Glopsy

Introduction

Here's my new Multi, pictured on the day I picked her up, resplendent in what looks like a years worth of road grime

I've serviced her, fixed numerous electrical issues including getting the remote CL working again and got her through an MOT a few days ago.

Next up is a drive belt tensioner change, as mine makes a real racket, bleed the clutch to see if I can get a better pedal, change the gearbox oil and then try and find a pair of roof bars before our holiday in May :)
Decided to try and improve my screen washers today,as the mot looms in a week or so and they've got a bit weak.
First impressions, the pipework seems to have a number of tiny leaks, underneath the scuttle, which won't be helping matters, so I attempted to take the scuttle off to investigate, but failed miserably! The culprit was the wiper arms, which were seized solid on their splines, and even a go with some bearing pullers didn't shift them.
Plan B was to unscrew what I could scuttle wise and go from there, which wasn't far, as I found that the biggest leak was from the pipe going into the right hand nozzle, which had somehow snapped at its base.
I've ordered one so will stop play until it arrives.

I'm going to assume its very similar to the Brava/o scuttle which also needs the wiper arms off, I too was beaten by the car and ended scratching up my hands fumbling around through the small gap I could make.
My passenger washer has given up the ghost, not that it was much use anyway as its mainly been firing onto the roof for the past month, perhaps Fiat intended for it to wash the sunroof? ;)

Another MOT out of the way. Initially failed on a side light bulb ( which was working when I checked yesterday).
One advisory for a weak front shock. Does anyone know if the facelift struts fit the roundnose?
Dilema time now. Do I spend money on this one ( clutch/cambelt/ front shocks) or continue to look for one with better bodywork?

Little update - I'm getting an annoying whine from the aux belt tensioner pulley, which is the second one I've fitted in the 6 years I've had Glopsy.
Does anyone have a preferred brand, as I don't really want to have to keep replacing them!

Today was a good day :)

I managed to change the aux belt tensioner this morning, without having to remove the crank pulley and it has cured the awful racket coming from that end of the engine (y) Checking through the service history that came with the car, the tensioner and belt were changed less than 20k ago, and although I appreciate they are both consumables, I'd expect a bit more than a couple of years of driving out of them :(

I also attempted to change the gearbox oil, but couldn't get my 12mm hex socket in the drain plug, and the biggest allen key I had to hand was 10mm. I'll pop over to a local hardware store this weekend and pick a 12mm one up and cut it down to give access to the plug. I did however check the current level, which was so low it took just over a quarter litre.

Also ticked off the list was to replace all 3 wiper blades.

Next up will be the ARB droplinks, when I can work out whether it's the front or the back making the noise.

All in all, working on the Multi has proven fairly straightforward and even without a workshop manual most things I've had to do so far have not been too taxing :)
Sorry, didn't get this in time to help you out. All the best, George

I tend to go for gates or skf parts for belts/tensioners they’re often OE fitment on Italian cars

Tensioner job done this morning. Took longer to get the car jacked up that to actually change the part.
The tensioner itself hadn't failed, but the bearings in the pulley had. Not sure if I could've just got a new pulley, but it's fixed and quiet, which is all I need it to be.
Next up will be the annual service, but I must admit to now having thoughts of a change,so Glopsy may be replaced before that actually happens?

Finally found some time today to sort out the advisory from the last MOT, a weak front shock.
To save time and money, I opted for a guaranteed used and complete strut as well as a new Meyle HD drop link.

One thing that surprised me was the drop link I removed, which was also a Meyle HD had completely failed at one joint and was really sloppy, which is unusual for that make, having not been on the car for that many miles.
The entire job took me just over two hours, including the packing up,and I even dodged the rain!
Next up will be front discs and pads, but they can wait until the New Year.

Coming into a dual carriageway today saw the engine management light come on, and a definite lack of power. It feels like the turbo is not operating correctly but as there's no smoke I'm hoping it just a boost pipe?
P.s the glow plug light has flashed on start up since I've owned it!

Is Glopsy lucky enough to be OBD2?

No idea. Where is the obd port likely to be?
Found the port, to the right, under the steering wheel.
Interestingly, I've just been down a local bypass to conduct an " Italian tuneup" and the eml light went out for a bit then came on before going out again. The turbo was definitely spooling when the light was out, which seems to suggest there's an issue with the actuator or solenoid?
As I've not got a code reader I'll pop up to my local garage on Monday and see if they can diagnose the fault.
Fingers crossed it's something small as there's more miles left in Glopsy.

I have a basic reader that I used to have to reset a code on turbo. Used to be £12 ish.
You can also get Bluetooth ones to use a phone app with like torque or alpha obd...(free)
Google the code.
Professor wmf often points at vacuum actuator pipe causing turbo issues.
