Punto (Mk2/2b) Marcelline the 1.4 Sporting

Introduction

Say hello to my new daily driver, Marcelline!

She's a 1.4 Sporting, picked up off eBay for a mere £519! She's going to be my new daily driver to replace the Pajero as I'm getting pissed off at how much petrol that thing uses!

Plans? Not a lot, replace the wheels with something OEM, replace the headunit with something that has bluetooth and that's pretty much it.

The previous owner's didn't really seem to take much care of her so I'm hoping to rectify that, step one was a wash as I don't think she'd been properly cleaned in so long that, well, I'll let these pictures of my clay bar do the talking ...

Nothing exciting happened recently, she's covered nearly 20k since I bought her which is pretty impressive in my book :) I got a triple pack of Wynn's Engine Oil Flush/Oil Additive/Injector Cleaner so did an oil change and all of that at the weekend. Still not managed to get that grill fitted

An interesting development on the 7th, while we were out for my 'stag do' (ie guns and karts 2k17), an ignition coil randomly decided to give up just as we were coming up to the Karting place. £25 for a new one from ECP, might be worth replacing the rest as they've all done over 100k now.

FWIW, Fiat dealer which was literally 2 mins from the karting place wanted to charge £107 for a new one!

Not just Fiat that charges a lot....My back box decided to fall off at the weekend. Phoned kwickfit yesterday and got quoted £108 to replace rear box.
Quick trawl of Ebay, got 1 with free post and packing for £20.76 arrived today and took me about an hour to fit it (most of that time was getting what was left of the rear pipe off the centre section). New one may have been cheap but it all lined up perfectly and is nice and quiet, and at almost £90 less than kwikfit i'm happy

So she's fast approaching 30k under my ownership. The outer CV's have been dodgy since I bought it, so planning to get them replaced next month. However, as I have a new job and will be able to afford something newer with a diesel (much better for my mileage - 100 miles a day), Marceline will likely be up for sale before the end of the year :)

well if you can't find one cheap changing the CV's is not hard, messy yes but not hard at all. I assume the inner one will just be a spider bearing like a cento in the cup, they are super cheap, Big Mick sells them. All you need tool wise other than the normal spanners and sockets is some circlip pliers.
