Hello, I'm looking for some advise on how to change an air filter on my Bravo 2008 1.9 Diesel, looking at the engine its looks as if the filter case is at the bottom of the engine, at the front. Doesn't seem easy to get to and open the case. A little advise would be great before I start.
Thanks
Michael

Thanks for your reply,

I can't see any plastic case that looks like an air filter case on the drivers side of the car ( The car is a right hand drive )

When your looking in at the engine the filter case seems to be on your right hand side under the battery.

Thanks

Mine's a 165T. Maybe yours is an 8-valve and in a different position. By the way you can't see it from the engine bay - it's completely hidden inside the wheel arch...

Thanks for your replies Phil,

My car is a 1.9 diesel multijet active.

Thought it would be simple to change an air filter?

The filter is on the front left side of the car and you can change it very easy but under the car

Thanks for the reply.

I guess you would need it on a ramp to undo the clip right at the bottom of the
plastic case, if there is one, as you can't see from the top of the engine, or get your hand down there.

It is a horrible job... If unprepared.
I changed mine recently, I couldn't find any guides anywhere but knew where it was so had a go.
You don't need to take a wheel off but need access to a portion of the Allen key bolts inside the kerbside wheel arch, there is a panel underneath the engine which can be lowered or removed. You will see a black box with a hose attached at the bottom, it is advisable to take this off, once done you can unclip the box and it opens like a book hinged at the top.
I unfortunately didn't have the tool to remove the hose and had to wedge the box open and rip the filter to bits getting it out. It took me an hour to do mine as I don't have the luxury of proper tools or jack so had to use the fiat supplied one which removes all trace of skin from knuckles that scrape the floor whilst jacking... I think with the rain that fell when doing it which almost drowned me and the loss of blood from the knuckle shaving when I replace again I will go for k&n or similar panel filter.
So long story short look it over and get the right tools and give yourself enough time in case the italians left you surprises. Why couldn't they put it where everyone else does?
