Love this HGT, looked at it even before Angelo had it was a very good example, and still looks stunning

Re: Fiat Bravo 155 HGT

I'm sure if you check through the old threads on this car detailing various repairs by numerous owners over the past couple of years, you'll find that the cambelt and water pump have been done, along with loads of other stuff.

Re: Fiat Bravo 155 HGT

I have read all the threads on it, I had before i ever bought it, I also have a massive pile of history which i have recently organised into date order... Its been a few years and about 30k miles since it had belts etc (3 years if i remember correctly, was when Angelo had it). Granted this is not as long as the service interval states but one of the idlers or tensioners is making a noise and if i am taking some of it off then i might as well just change the lot and be done with it. Can't see the point in working out which one exactly it is and just changing that and not changing the belts.
Likewise, it doesn't need a new rear gearbox mount either but thats just the start of my renewing all bushings on the car - can't afford to buy all the engine/gearbox mounts in one go so got that one for now (well i had already bought it before i started getting a nasty bearing noise).

After I have done what i have so far I am gonna start on either renewing all the suspension bushings or overhauling the brakes, braided lines and full caliper cleaning and rebuilding and fresh fluid. Again, not really needed but to me the whole car is in great condition but feels a bit tired and needs a freshen up.

Also to add, iirc, the water pump wasn't done when the belt was last done anyway so defo worth doing now. Could be original.

And yes that in the background is a bravo/a Technical manual on CD - I bought that recently and shall upload to download section soon cause I am nice like that.. My upload speed is too slow though and it keeps timing out. So will have to wait until I am visiting someone with proper internet connection lol.

Had to jack it up and take the wheel off and pull the inner arch out to get it into place, right faff lol.

Looks much better forgot to take a pic though, will do soon.

Does anyone have item 1 on this pic?

I also don't have 12, 16 & 17 - not sure what them brackets are for, anyone?

Re: Fiat Bravo 155 HGT

Cheers Adrian - It seems solid enough without it so think i will leave it unless i spot a bravo in the scrappies or something tbh. But well spotted nonetheless!!

I noticed whilst looking at the technical manual on my laptop that certain sections don't seem to work, stuck CD in and ran it from there and works fine. So I am kinda hoping if i copy it again that will fix it. Off to use my mothers nice flat drive to do the servicing this weekend (weather permitting) so assuming i can get it all to work when copied off the CD I will try and upload the technical manual to the downloads while I am there.

Re: Fiat Bravo 155 HGT

no never have, only mk2 punto i have ever been in is the sporting i picked out for my mum many years ago..

I wouldn't call the bravo really fast anyway, its pretty quick top end as it has long gears - so great for bashing up and down motorways etc. I should imagine the puntoHGT is geared a bit shorter if it has better acceleration times as you can see from the figures you posted the bravo has a power-to-weight and torque-to-weight advantage. The punto has a similar engine but its the 4pot like in a barchetta or a bravo 1.8hlx, same family of engine though as far as i know.

Re: Fiat Bravo 155 HGT

turbo cars will always rule the drag strip, period. Was a crap start from the bravo though.

But like i have said before, a PGT to BravoHGT is not really a comparison worth making. They are just too different to compare with each other and get any results worth anything.
