Stilo Mario's Stilo Tractor

Introduction

Well I have always looked at Stilo's and thought they were a nice car and the chance has finally come, (well if i'm honest, this is my second chance to have one, first was an Arbarth but choose a Jag instead) for me to own one, this time its a nice daily JTD Wagon that has a couple of small issues but nothing that worries me really.

Good bits, its a Dynamic so has lots of toys, its the 115bhp 1.9JTD so MPG will be nice and high, it doesn't have horrible leather, which makes me happy.

Bad bits, clear coat peel on drivers front wing, not worried, rust on the sills due to stone chips from the common lack of mud guards, not worried, and it feels down on power but that might be because I have come from a 150bhp 2.0 petrol to this lol.
just tax'd it as per the new rules, it costs the same for 12months as the scenic did for 6, i'm well happy and even happier its only going to cost £12 per month for the legality fund lol

Hey mate , we are now both got a cento each and a stilo each now :)

if you think its a bit sluggish give the Egr vaalve a clean or block it off it wont bring the Eml lihght on , had mine blocked off for a good 30k + miles and it hasnt came on die to the egr ..

i also have a Drake Tuning box (fond on ebay ) its got 1-10 seletable "maps" and omg , there is so much of a diffrance from no box to with the box on 6 , pulls so much harder , and mpgs have went up a little but

lol yes, a cento and a stilo each.

Yeah I am planning on blanking it off, I hate the idea of them anyway.

yeah, also looking at tuning boxes, unsure which to go for but atm on the run back from getting it I got 59mpg average and I got 35mpg average in the scenic so I can live with a small drop lmao.

Going to fit a boost gauge too so I can see what its sitting at. Do you know if you can fit bleed valves to a Diesel to increase the boost the same as Petrol???

I'm also looking into the IC and weather the Coupe 20v Turbo one is any better as they sit in the same place so hoping its better and its a simple fit as it would be a nice cheap upgrade lol.

I am toying with lowering it and maybe a set of Coupe 16's for cheapness to make it a nice daily.

just counted the Fiats I have owned.
White Mk1 Punto 55s
Black Mk2 Uno Turbo
Black Mk1 Punto 55s
Yellow Cinq Sporting
Grey Cinq Sporting
Blue Mk1 Punto Sporting 16v
Red Cinq Sporting
Blue Sei SX
Black Mk2 Punto 8v
Red Sei Sporting (current track car)
Silver Stilo JTD Multi-Wagon (current Daily)

That means I have owned more Fiats than any other brand, yeah, I'd say I'm addicted lol

Ive got a boost guauge on mine , i dont know about the bleed valve , i dont think you will need to do it any more , as mine boost 2 bar now ive got my "low miles" turbo on ,

apparnly i think it was sussexa hes a hero in the land of stilo modding , hes ran plenty of Logs its quite well documented , Ill post a few of his links in here later on for you ,

Unless your going for big power the Standard Intercooler is ample enough , its a small desgin , but its good to flow and cool good power ,

I got my Apex speings Off carparts4less.com and they had a deal on at the time so think i got 4 springs for 90 pound , and there Realy Comfy , ive got Satch Dampers on and there awsome now

as for wheels , try and get the correct tyre size as it will knock your Speedo out , i think if i set at 70 mph , my speedo shows 63

cheers mate.

well got an update already, just popped to the shops and after a small amount of reading up I decided to disconnect the MAF, well its not down on power any-more so will order a new one tomorrow.

yeah the wheels and tyres on the coupe 20v turbo are the same size and profile as these so I think I will look out for a set.

Good call on the springs, I ran Apex on mu Cinq and now have them on my Sei so I think I will go with them again as I have always liked the ride on them.

well if the Stock IC is good then I will just leave it as I aint chasing power in this as its just a daily lol think a re-map or tuning box will be it for power.

Ill Find them at a better price too

Cheers, I will have a look around, would love a set of Apex ones as never had a bad set lol.

Well there isn't much to report on as all I have done is swap the wheels and tyres for a set of steels with better tyres and fit a head unit, which I need to wire in properly as fiat in there infinite wisdom in 2003 still didn't fit an ignition live, wonder if they do on the newer ones??? so got that to do today maybe, its getting old already having to turn the radio on and off all the time lol

Just a thought, i'm not sold on its current colour so have been toying with the idea of changing it, now with that said, a full respray (to fix the bad bits of paint) will be very pricey indeed, so I was looking at other options and the one I keep coming back to is Liquid wrap, I love the idea that its not permanent and its easily repaired if damaged by simply pealing it off that 1 panel and re-spraying it.

I'm thinking of the Camo Green Matt finish here below, Question is, how many Aerosols or do I just get the 5l tub and get a lend of some-one to spray it???

So, since I got the car, I have been running with the MAF disconnected as I thought it was dead, before I went to London on boxing day I decided to check my air filter to make sure it was clean, easy job I thought, jacked the car up, undid the clip as the airbox fell apart, not happy, turns out the car has been bumped in the front and broke all the plastics, so to get me back on the road I took the air box off and replaced it with a cone filter and pipe temporary off my Sei, while I was at it I cleaned out the MAF as it was full, and I mean full, of gunk, I put it all back together but put the filter and maf in a different place, see pics, and went off to London, been fine with MAF still unplugged, then on my way home yesterday on the M25 I suddenly lost all power, I could rev the engine but it had no pull, limped it to an emergancy stand where I popped the bonnet and prepared to call for recovery, and thought, hmmmm I wonder, I plugged the MAF back in and all is well with the world again, I am now running full power.

Moral of this long ass story, clean your MAF!!!

cheers, I did see your brakes and I did like the look of them, my rears are ready for doing hehehe.

Yeah I am wanting the BackBox delete, how much of a difference did you find with it??? ie Noise level, Sound tone, performance if any.

I had seen this lol, it does sound nice, did you take out both silencers at the same time???

I only ask as I am try to keep it fairly civilised as its the daily and it will become the towing car for my Sei track car at some point once I have that ready for the track.

didnt notice much difference, but at about 2.5k it started to sound a little nice, and on tickover it had a rumble too not loud but noticable

i have the same plan of you mate im gonna stick a tow bar on mine and tow the cinq on it too ,

nope its not uncivlised at all , i found a little bit more nosiey on tick over , and more nosise on boost ,,,, but thats all im gonna tell you , decat and stright pipe it and find out how loud it is :p or if your over my way let me know and ill give you the keys to go out in it

well, I am coming up north again in the next few weeks.

I defo want to keep the Cat as the new MOT rules state it must be there but I am giving serious thought to a straight through cat back.

i'm thinking twin side by side, keep it subtle. something like the pic.
