Stilo Mario's Stilo Tractor

Introduction

Well I have always looked at Stilo's and thought they were a nice car and the chance has finally come, (well if i'm honest, this is my second chance to have one, first was an Arbarth but choose a Jag instead) for me to own one, this time its a nice daily JTD Wagon that has a couple of small issues but nothing that worries me really.

Good bits, its a Dynamic so has lots of toys, its the 115bhp 1.9JTD so MPG will be nice and high, it doesn't have horrible leather, which makes me happy.

Bad bits, clear coat peel on drivers front wing, not worried, rust on the sills due to stone chips from the common lack of mud guards, not worried, and it feels down on power but that might be because I have come from a 150bhp 2.0 petrol to this lol.
So today I have Collected and fitted a pair of Heko front wind Deflectors.

I have also got a full set of Stilo mud flaps to fit and a nice set of Eibach lowering springs but these may not see the car until the bad weather is long gone and I have the alloys I want for it, so for now, they have been tucked away in the cupboard lol.

Well I went out, fitted the rears looks well smart with them on, will fit the fronts once I have got some u clips from fiat.

(insert as many swear words as you can think of and it wont be as much as what I have just thrown at my stilo)

Ok, so out on a drive and I hear this noise like something is dragging on the floor, 5seconds later, BING!!!!, Altenator Fault* appears on the read out and the battery light comes on but the noise has now stopped.

(insert above mentioned profanities)

So I have limped it home on the battery to find my belt is missing, hmmm wonder if that's what that intermittent squeeking has been on cold start.

so my question is, how hard is it going to be to do an Altenator belt and tensioner in the (*******) snow????

What makes this worse, there is a receipt in the folder I got to say the BELTS were changed only 3k ago but it says nothing about the tensioners. grrrrr I hate second hand cars lol

On a slightly brighter note, I got a stock grill and fitted it so the front looks alot tidier now.

I know I am more than capable of doing it and it does look easy enough, but honestly, I just can't be arsed plus the weather is poor, if it was sunny or at least dry I would be it's been snowing here and it's just got me in a mood of CBA lol. Plus the garage is actually not that bad price wise.

Well, its come back and there is still a squeak, see post in Stilo section.

garage cant say but they think there is signs the bottom pulley (Crank) has signs the rubber bits in the middle are worn, they cant be sure but it might be the cause of the belt snapping, they say there isn't any signs of play in any other the pullies or idlers etc and that all other bearing look and feel good, its just the bottom one that has a little bit of a question over.

heres a ting i do mate , theres a pully i spary some lueb around the back edge of it , its the bearing thats scqueeling on mine , it stops it squeeling , ill get mine changed , i bought a beand new one off shop for parts , they have free postage on this month , so made it cheep (Y)

Oh I love my insurance Company, Chris Knott, your legends.

So I bought the below for my car and then thinking it was going to cost a fortune to add them, BLAMMMM, been landed with a £15 administration charge but no increase in premiums.

18's Baby wrapped in Yokohama 225/40/18 tyres, will be going on when I lower it and get some spigot rings and bolts to fit.

Well happy.

Oh and the belt hasn't come off so happy with that too lol.

Wow, I haven't updated for a while, so I held off fitting the wheels and springs until re-newal time, which has now come and Chris Knott have once again surpassed my expectations, so Re-Newal is start of April and and so is suspension and wheels fitting day, I actually cant wait as it will be getting new wishbones, shocks, springs, wheels, Brakes and drop-links all at the same time, hmmmm wonder if I should fit new ARB bushes while i'm on lol.

Any-one reading this and has their Insurance re-newal coming up, please give them a call, they saved me a big wedge.

Valuable lesson learnt today.

well as some may remember, I had an issue with the alternator belt being thrown off a while back that seemed to fix itself, well, I decided to get my car washed today and when I started the engine to drive away the steering was heavy again, yup you got it, the belt has come off again so just putting another order in at BestPartShop.co.uk lol that will make a bill of £367 spent with them in the last 7 days.

So the list of parts to be fitted next week.
1x passenger side wishbone
4x lowering springs
4x 18inch alloy wheels
1x drive pulley
1x MAF Sensor
2x rear Shocks
and hopefully 1x new down pipe as flexi has gone.
