Grande Punto My 130 M-JET

Introduction

Hello fellow fiat friends (ooo friend)

I picked her up a fortnight ago, still not over the new car feel. Got a few plans here and there which will inevitably snowball out of control but hey here goes. :p

When I bought the car a couple of weeks ago;

I reckon Jesus would drive a GPS if he had a license :devil:

On friday before it got dirty driving 300 miles in the rain

Plans include sorting the wheels, they are flaking a little and a tiny spec of corrosion on each of them. Thing is I like the shiny effect but I also think it might look pretty mean going stealth black with some abarth headlights
Very nice,

I like the alloys in silver against the black tbh, but if you were having a change, how about anthracite?

Abarth lights are a good shout, make a bigger difference than you'd think I reckon.

Thanks!

Yeah I would keep it that way if they were in better condition as they do look pretty good. Might look into getting them refurbed but I think they are diamond cut or at least the faces look it on the mjet wheels.

Abarth lights look great, seen them on a few cars on here and one in the flesh and they just set the car off regardless of colour. Will do some photoshopping this weekend and see what It will look like with anthracite wheels!

Nothing too interesting, been driving lots of miles to see family and get christmas presents out the way so no time for the Grande unfortunately. Today I fitted some Osram Nightbreakers and gave the interior a valet, the difference in light output from the bulbs is huge they're brilliant and the white light is so much nicer than standard yellow. :D Such a fiddly job though, cut my fingers pulling the plug out but got there in the end

Probably not the best picture but was on the phone so practically pointless taking a photo of the headlights from the front.

Re: My black M-JET

So since I bought the car ive known the brakes will want attention at some point so ive decided I will go for something a bit better than the OE Discs/pads, especially considering it will only cost a tiny bit more to go for something better.

I'm looking at these; http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/perfo...ce-brake-discs-front-pair-vented-284mm-x-22mm

Undecided on pads just yet, will most likely be EBC brand, i just dont want squeeky brakes anymore and preferably not loads of brake dust as the OE ones I have in now cake the alloys after a week of city driving. ANYWAY, has anyone on here had any experience with these discs, fitting/driving etc...

Thanks!

Oh and the last thing, I want to do something about the back box - I dont like the tailpipe as it is stock. Wanted something twin exit similar to the abarth tips, nothing big particularly just something that looks a little smarter. Again, dont want to spend loads on it as its only a small aesthetic thing and I dont want to buy a universal backbox and go down that route. Any ideas? Nothing off the shelf for the GP as it would appear.

No unfortunately not, because the GPS M-JET and T-JET have a kind of trim on the end of the exhaust already that is actually fixed to the exhaust you cant just put a different tip on. Might just have to wait until I need to replace a part of the exhaust and do an upgrade. Seen a few GPS's on here with twin tips but i think they are all custom systems.

Going to do a mufflerectomy (remove the rear silencer) and in its place a straight pipe with a nice double tipped end. However, Ive decided to wait until ive replaced all the discs/pads as thats the only thing that NEEDS doing to the car in the next like 5k miles. Received my LED's for number plate today and fitted them, much better white colour but waiting for my inline resistors to come to get rid of the error message on the dash. Considering doing the same with some LED's for the sidelights so they match my Osram Nightbreakers but that can wait until next week.

Driving home today;

No damage, just the worst feeling in the world.

So booked in to have a few problems sorted tommorow at Clovertech in romford. Heard some good things here and on the alfa forum so hopefully will be done in good time and at a decent price.

On the way home today my driver side spring sheared itself off but the spring miraculously reseated itself, not the most pleasant experience - had the AA out to have a look and decided to drive it home... slowly.

Hopefully will get boost issue sorted tommorow also, no power below 2000rpm, sometimes up to 2500rpm fingers crossed its nothing too pricey!

Ok so lots happened this week and not great things like silencer deletes or remaps, instead a new spring thanks to it shearing off - it also took the O/S ARB link with it so a new one of them too and a new MAF sensor courtesy or the guys at Clovertech. MAF sensor massively improved economy, got 35mpg last week and then shot straight up to 50mpg and has come down a little to 45mpg now im driving around town. Still the issue of low power and laggy boost delivery so im turning my attention to the boost pipes as i know these are a common problem so have ordered uprated silicon hoses and a new clean air filter for the new maf and fingers crossed this will sort out my issue. Going to check the hoses tommorow and find the offender and the parts should arrive on tuesday. If the boost hoses are a dead end then i will look at the vacuum end of the turbo and hope I find what im looking for there. If none of this helps then i will temporarily blank off the EGR even though it didnt throw up any codes during the diagnostics at clovertech but its worth a go. Car sounds like it has a boost leak though imo;
