Here is that discolouration. It's horrible. Only ever in the drivers side light.

Re: Maserati Blue 150 T-jet

Cheers, there's no discolouration at all from the standard bulbs being in. The led bulbs shouldn't get as hot as halogen ones so should be fine.

Re: Maserati Blue 150 T-jet

Well basically lifted around the edges of the grill, I think due to lack of prep now I've peeled it all off and looking to redo it next weekend as I've peeled it all off.

I need advice on prep?

Okay all in the prep, when you do the first coat after washing it and drying with a cloth properly, spray the whole thing with a mist also you may find it easier to spray horizontal instead of laying it down and doing it,with the next coat go round the edges really thick.and everycoat after always go round the edges first I am not sure how you done it if you only sprayed the front I would do the whole lot and behind it to get a good finish keep it even.

I have since taken mine of as it has done it's job for me and I didn't get the finish I wanted as I wanted super super glossy look.and getting them sprayed by the guy who done pic below

Re: Maserati Blue 150 T-jet

I sprayed it all good, but after I washed the car the first time the plastidip around the chrome lifted a bit.

Did you do anything to degrease it before hand?

Re: Maserati Blue 150 T-jet

Grease, wax and any sort of water left on the thing you are dipping can and will cause it to not adhere correctly. Number one rule of plastidip. It must be dry, Really dry. Another good tip is that when you do your preperation wash, use a good degreaser to get any old wax, grease polish off. Give it a bloody good scrub. What swift said abut misting the first layer is almost spot on. You probably already know about the first layer being very light. It becomes the adhesive layer between object and dip so it's advisabel you get this right. I normally allow the first coat to fully dry. For a good 20 mins or so. Much longer than the thick layers as I like to make sure it's sticking correctly.

My thought on why it's peeling on the edges in your case will be that there was moisture between the plastic. Only minute ammounts but enough to stop it sticking correctly. And like a chain reaction once it starts peeling it won't stop. If you're only doing grills there's no harm sitting it in an airing cupboard for a few hours or even go at it with a hair dryer for 20 minutes to make absolutely sure you have removed all dirt, dust, grease and moisture

Re: Maserati Blue 150 T-jet

Also when your pushing the grill back into place be careful not to pinch the plastidip making sure it's 100% dry too.
