Grande Punto 2nd car, 1.9 mjet sporting in orange ;)

Introduction

After telling myself I was not going to get another Fiat I went and got an orange mjet with 57k on the clock, in perfect condition too!

So far, I've only transferred over my TH window deflectors, I've got a few plans so far though:

-Rear 3 windows tinted professionally.
-Alloys refurbished in anthracite. (the stock alloys are too good to replace!)
-Paint the calipers orange, will look nice with 4 calipers and not just 2 :p
-baseless grille, black or anthracite vinyl behind the number plate as usual :)
-new head unit and use the sub from my old car, edge 2 x 12 inch

Then that's it for looks I think, after that I want to look at some performance mods.

-speaking with gsr to have an induction kit made for it, mainly for turbo noise but maybe some better pick up when the car is mapped.
-forge fmic for the tjet, maybe spray an orange forge logo onto it too.
-double decat, midbox and backbox removed, for a nice noise.
-egr delete.
-then a minor service before a remap which I plan to get done at West Yorkshire tuning, great lad that does a good job.

Any ideas or suggestions on what I should do please mention :)

Very nice vehicle you have there sir, what is the colour / colour code of your wheels?

Thankyou! ;) And there's no specific code, I went to an alloy wheel refurb place near me and said I wanted them anthracite, they charged £216, can't fault the quality they're immaculate!

Lovely car. How much did you pay for this when you bought it if you don't mind me asking? Might be on my list as my 2nd car.

Cheers man, it was listed for 3.9k on this forums classifieds, and I got it for 3.7k, with roughly 57k miles on the clock. It had it's cambelt, waterpump, aux belt all done and regular servicing, including gearbox oil changes.

The belts and condition of the gearbox are definitely something to look out for when buying this car

So a lot has happened since the last update, atm the main big thing is some new welded pipework to handle the new boost since the other pipe I was using couldn't handle it, welds will be cleaned up too. Giving the car an overhaul and making sure everything is up to standard, new boost solenoid, new air con condenser, just changed box oil to sinto fluid 75w80, a couple oil changes to get the sump and system as clean as I can aswell as new turbo oil feeds and a new banjo bolt without the restrictive oem mesh inside it

Fair to say I'm doing my best to take car of the car, which is needed when it's running 220bhp / 340ft lb ?

That's impressive mate! Bet it surprises a few bigger cars

What mpg you getting ? Have you done anything exhaust wise?

Essentially I have a straight through from the turbo back, best thing for diesels, I've left my mid box on though which cancles most of the noise at low revs, the mid box isn't restrictive though.

I used an astra 16v cdti precat delete off ebay, and replaced the main cat and backbox with stainless pipe at an exhaust place :)

As for mpg I get 44odd when flooring it and 75mpg at 80mph cruising. This is down to the new turbo and the map though

correct me if I'm wrong but from the pictures...

is that turbo mounted wrong on the manifold or is the cold side turbo facing the wrong way?

It's a hybrid from a vectra, the compressor housing doesnt have an s-bend like the punto turbo so if I try to point it facing down the air con compressor is in the way, so it's pointed upwards.

I think that was what you where getting at, aside from what I mentioned everything else is a like for like fit apart from it having a larger intake so the stock pipe doesn't fit so can't use stock airbox

Yeah thought the pictures looked different... So have you got a U Shape silcone tube off the cold side then? Interested to see what you have done :)

Aye yeah, well it's actually a 120 degree pipe, not the most ideal thing in the world but it works fine, it's the only way I've been able to make it work.
Will get some pics up when it's all done though!

You mind me asking for a link to the ebay part and the price?

Any updates on this?!? Really interested to find out how things are going with the hybrid set up. Just inquired with cdti surgery myself :D I've also been looking into ways of fitting the twin turbo setup from a Saab ttid but this looks so much better!

Would love to see as many pictures as possible of the pipework and what you have done to replace the standard airbox, MAF etc.

How much did this set you back?
Whats the average MPG like now you've had it a while?
How is it as a daily driver?
Any work done to the clutch/gearbox to take the power/torque?

Atm im looking for injectors as I'm stuck at 200bhp for some reason from RS tuning, the mjet nozzles seems to be different from standard 8v JTD nozzles.
cdti surgery now make a specific punto hybrid so you don't have to go through the trouble I've been though to make the pipework etc.
The saab twin turbo wont fit, not enough room haha.

I'm now using the standard airbox as fiats amazing design lets a lot of water through the wheel arch, Ive made up some silicone pipework from the airbox to the turbo as my turbos inlet is 60mm which is bigger than the puntos hybrid, and made a big hole in the bottom half of the box for it's intake.

IF I where you and you're game enough drop a 16v lump into it, a remap alone can give you 210bhp on those things and they drive like a petrol with plenty of power top of the revs.

I've ran up about 3500 in just turbo problems alone now, mainly due to an absolutely **** mapper blowing up the first hybrid turbo in half a day and no one taking responsibility for it so i had to buy a new one, then 2 absolutely **** remaps following that befor eI finally decided to go to somewhere good ie rs tuning

Need any help bud just ask would hate to see someone go through the same problems as I have

cdti surgery haven't bothered to reply to any of my messages making me feel a bit reluctant about it all now. I saw they developed one after they had yours in their workshop. I have also seen some 120% injectors on their fb page. Are you saying that cdti surgery didn't map your car properly? Annoying me that they wont reply as im properly interested in this! I wont go down the 16v route, too much work and needs to last years to come and retain some form of reliability. how is it now? whats your mpg like?
