Grande Punto My little T-JET!

Introduction

So the day has come where I picked my TJET up.
Took a lot of convincing that this was the right car for me, had to convince my parents (I'm 19) that I could handle the power, regardless of the endless amount of powerful cars I've driven since working for VW and Mini, (New/old Golf R's, GTI's, Cooper S etc.)
Then it was the struggle to get my father to take me 125 miles to go and collect the thing in Hexham, 3 miles from the Scottish Border, so travelling from Leeds took a good 2 hours..

Soon as we got there, I knew I wanted it, he knew I wanted it, and I had a funny feeling he wanted it too.. So after a bit of haggling and banter.
Here is my 2007 (07) TJET, in red..

By the looks of the car, the Y spoke wheels are standard? Don't know whether anthracite was standard when the cars were new or not.
Also sounds/looks like it has a different exhaust on.. Little bit louder and bigger, also pops a few times!!

Absolutely love driving her and have got a few plans for her myself.
These being to start off with:
  • Some nice smoked wind deflectors
  • Maybe a fly-eye kit for the lights (bit strict on money at the moment)
  • Some 6000k bulbs for dipped and main, maybe some number plate bulbs if I get round to it.
Then there is also, an induction kit and remapping but that will come at a later stage due to insurance being silly!!
May possibly take the front bottom grille off to show off the intercooler but will check to see how it looks first.
That's it from me!!

Keep updated with the posts!
Ciao.

You have a gorgeous car there 7errors

The alloys are standard but they have been refurbished but i do like the colour of them!

If you can get your hands on some lamin-x rather than the fly eye i think that will look better, I know it is a little bit more expensive but the bug eye doesn't do it for me. You could also tint the rear lights with lamin x

I would leave the grill in place but that is just my opinion, you thought of getting a debadged grill for the top? The lights are a great little mod to start with, I have led ones in for the number plate, I had to put in line resistors in but they are so white and crisp.

Team heko wind deflectors are the one that everyone gets on here, there is a reason for that too!

Like I said you have a gorgeous car and you are very lucky to have a Tjet at that age, I hope you treat it right!

It looks like one of the first batch of t-jets in the UK which all seem to be red with the skydome (mine included). The wheels would have been silver with a diamond cut front face as standard but suffered corrosion problems. I think fiat offered the anthracite finish as an official warrenty repair (can't remember where I read it though), but you can still buy them in that finish through official channels. Alternatively they might just have been refurbished.

Just a quickie before I hop onto the computer, took a picture as (unfortunately) I had a warning light come on. The middle one yellow triangle with exclamation, I believe this is general malfunction? Turns out it wanted me to check the number plate light bulbs, so I got out and checked and all seemed well. ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1403377819.925379.jpg

Bad angle but who cares!! New car!!

Are they LED bulbs? The canbus system doesnt like LED bulbs without in line resistors.
Even the 'error free' bulbs dont work.

Not as far as I am aware, I checked them out and they were halogen.
Not sure why the light came on, it was intermittent, when I pulled up at my friends the light came on, I got out and thought I'll see to it when I set off home and then immediately got back into the car to check and it didn't come back on again, then on the way home I switched the lights on and it came on, then went off and then the message came up to check the number plate lights.

As far as I've read the warning light could be due to a number of things, but I instantly linked it to the fact that the message came on..

Also, I all of the advertisements for the cars that I have seen all say they have cruise control, I haven't for the life of me been able to work out where it is, could you advise?

Just a quicky, what is the reason behind Heko deflectors?

You may well have a bulb on its way out then mate! My sidelights did the same thing, intermittent fault saying 'check running lights' then it stayed on all the time.

Replace the bulbs and you should be fine, they are just w5w!!

No, the series 1 doesnt have cruise control, the series 2s do.
If you were to have it, it would be a small control underneath the indicator stalk.
But you wont have it buddy!
Hope this helps :)

Thanks for your help, may pop down to Motosave tomorrow to see if they stock any! Oh that's not all bad, I like the sound of the engine anyway. So don't mind keeping my foot hovered over the throttle

What do you mean by the lights aren't washed?
I'm a bit dim, sorry!
biggrin.gif

The lights dont have a washer system which HIDs need to have by law!

No worries!! I understood what you meant haha!
Just as a matter of question, the rear plate bulbs are W5W, the front dipped are H4? What are the main beam? Just for reference so I have the right tools when I want to purchase the bulbs? (If I do now you've said about the washers!)
Ah right I see!
Are the higher output bulbs classed as HID's then?
Sorry for being stupid but I thought HID kits were something different? Obviously lights but a different thing?

Lol, you messed that quote up a little haha ;) dont worry about it you'll learn the forum!
Anyhow, higher power bulbs are fine, when you said 6000k bulbs we all assumed you meant HID kits!
Most of us run brighter bulbs, they dont need washer systems.

H4 bulbs are dipped and main in one bulb.
The sidelights are also w5w, as are the side repeaters.
This should all be in your handbook, if you have one ;)

I know it wouldn't let me send it on the app so I copied and pasted, so it messed it all up, are the higher power bulbs, the whiter/blue colour?
I know the higher the power the more blue and eventually purple they get, is it above a certain amount they can only be used for specialist purposes?
