Panda (Classic) Serge - the Panda ST

Introduction

Well as some of you know I have bought purple haze's panda ST.

After VmanC had done some body work repairs myself and my dad Par made the long 240 mile trip to Panda HQ to collect it. What a journey, with interesting weather and long queues we finally made it at around 3pm (left home at around 9:30am!).

After showing my dad what Panda HQ is all about and showing him various Panda's in various states and a nice Lancia Y10 (@panda panda) we set back on the long journey taking the ST on what is most likely the longest journey it had ever been on.

We finally made it home sometime around 9:30pm. It was again a long and interesting journey but highly enjoyable. I'm rather surprised at how quick the panda is and how non existent the brakes are (although the air brake works just fine (y)). It's also crazy how new the gearbox feels, it took a while to get used to.

Anyway without blabbering any more here are some pictures:

A couple of Pics at Panda HQ:

Grumpy panda also came for the journey and appears he actually enjoyed it!

I'll need to take some better pics in the light but here are some taken by Kev and Vern previously:

Thanks
Dug out my Gunson's Testtune from what I thought would be its final resting place at the back of the garage, that was £19.95 well spent in 1980. Could replace it now for around £15! The silicon chip has really come down in price over the last 34 years.

I've got a Gunsons strobe,
any use..??

when did the points stop / dissy timing stop being useful..? right up until @96..??

an all fiats it was up till 1993. that is when they all went fuel injected.

Seat still used a carb up till 1994. it was however a carb with ECU combination with a fuel cut off solenoid to give it auto fuel cutoff (AFC) it is a thing that is used when you come off the throttle and makes it so the weight of the car is the only thing that turns the engine over, rather than fuel. when you learn how to use it right you can save loads on the fuel bill.
best mod i did to my carbed panda 4x4 was scrapping the carb for an early fuel injection system with AFC :D ;)

Wasn't it 1992 when CATs came in? Does the 1994 seat have a CAT?

Well running out of time before Italy so went round to dads today to have a fettle

Oil filter and oil changed. Also replaced the gearbox oil however could only get 2L in as I've either not bought enough or post a bottle :S gonna get another bottle this week and top it up (y)

Dad got the new wheels on yesterday and adjusted the steering wheel so so it's now straight ish when traveling straight. New wheels are amazing. No wobble and low noise at ahem 70mph. Also take hands of stealing wheel and carries on straight no issue. Looking forward to testing it out on the Auto Bahn.

Also got the CB fitted, just need to route the twig cable and all good to go :)

assuming it was my post that stirred this up,

pretty confident it was 1992 /93 that CAT's became common ( unleaded fuel)

however - when did the "indexable" dissy housing on the end of the camshaft
stop being "adjustable"

I'm fairly confident my last panda of @'94 was still the same as my '86 in that respect..did the circa 1996 N reg uno's have a "fixed" set-up..??
