500 My 500 On BBS

Possibly just me. But looks a bit weird with the wheel rim not making contact with the tyre! Is this the look you were looking for?
I had BBS Alloys on my MK2 Golf Gti and they were a better fit. Just looked like normal wheel/tyre fitment.

Looks cool, but are those wheels legal from an insurance perspective ?

Illegal wheel and tyre combination which will handle terribly and be dangerous. Stupid stupid thing to do.

Looks exactly like every other half arsed "dubber" car out there.

How indervidjewel. Guess secondhand 500 prices are down to where Lax Power/Slow Car readers will start picking them up.

PS> Also an MOT failure (on several points), therefore unroadworthy.

If you have a smash or try to make any kind of insurance claim they will simply walk away- you are basically uninsured with your current set-up.
I know this must all sound negative, but it's cheaper to learn this now rather than at claim time...

Sadly no one ever listens to this, all they say is "I fink it looks kool innit" or "I'm just trying to have sum fun, Y so meen?" and so on.

i've been stopped a few times and never have they said anything about the tires being illegal and out of curiosity i left them on for its MOT and it passed?

An insurance claim will be your ultimate test - why not call your insurer and ask ?

Have you declared the width of the rim and the tyre to your insurers?

I suspect that if they were made aware of the fact that you've stretched your tyres that much they will refuse to insure you.

You have to inform the insurance company if you fit any wheel/tyre combination that has not been homologated by Fiat in the handbook.

In the event of a crash if you're not properly insured then you could be liable for payment of damages and you could face police sanctions for driving without insurance.

I'm sorry but it doesn't look good at all, the only thing nice is the brand name of the wheels you've bought, that's it.

They're probably a big part of the reason you've been pulled over.....

They didn't ask for the width of the tire or rim, and i might consider changing from a 2 inch dish to a 1 inch making the rears 8j like the fronts.

So you've changed the track of the car by different amounts at different ends? Please tell me where you drive so I can not be on the same roads.

Opinions/what to do next on my bumble bee 500?

Sell the wheels, buy a set that fits.

After you have done that you could put a set of abarth seats in it, they come up cheap now and again also get an abarth steering wheel it makes a massive difference and again should not cost much.

A friend of mine who drives a WRX had issues with his insurer after a smallish smash - his fault- the issue was around the non-standard headlight bulbs he used as the smash was at night- one headlight survived. Insurers will do ANYTHING to avoid a payout...he eventually won, but the repair was delayed about 4 weeks ....so your wheels?
That's a no-no....

I've got some 7j's to go on mine once they are re-furbed 205/40-17's fit, don't like the 'can't afford the rubber' look but understand why it's done. How low is it? mine is 80/50 on coilies :)

Its got the factory wheels on for the winter and its lowered on coilies 50mm all round, I want to drop the rear a bit more as it sit higher than the fronts and doesn't look right.
