Uno My new 1.4 i.e. S!

Introduction

Hi all,

I've been watching the FF for quite a while now, and today I can feel it is time to introduce my new Uno. I've been driving a 1.1 for 2 years now, and I spotted this one a month ago. It's a 1.4S, so quite the basic version.

Things done so far:

installed some cinq sporting rims, abarth steeringwheel, cleaned it properly. Came with a new belt, fresh oil and fluids, had to fix up some cracked exhaust hangers.

To do:

lower it (its like sky high), new tires, better brakes, uno turbo interior and welding some rust spots in the rear sills.

Well, here it is!

Greetings from the other side of the channel!

Luc
I really like your car,it looks excellent! I always wanted a 1.4, with the bigger Tipo engine (I've had 2 x 1.4 ie Tipos...) - liked the idea of a big engine in a small car!

Your mods are sensible and do improve the car, but I don't think you should change too much because it is so nice and original.... In particular I would keep the interior, it is standard and quite classy for a 90's Fiat! (A lot of them had very nasty colour combinations). Do you really need to change the brakes, or can you just service and improve them?

Hope you enjoy the car....

I totally agree and congratulations on a good find.

Thanks guys! The bigger engine is a huuuuge plus. Have been driving a 1.1 for two years now, this is so much better!

As far as styling goes, I want to do mods that fit the time period. So tasteful lowering, but no slamming. No spoilers, just getting it to look tidy and era-fitting.

The brakes could use an upgrade, so my plan is just new brakes all around, no mods to bigger or different brakes.

Lowering is now planned in two weeks, as well as a rust spot in my rear sill that needs treatment.

Ill keep you posted!

Well, i've been snooping around Marktplaats (Marketplace, the dutch Ebay) for some wheels, and i've found this:
http://www.marktplaats.nl/a/auto-on...285449651fa109c354bbabe740c1b&previousPage=lr

Some nice ronal a1's in 14 inch. Still talking to the guy, but he was offering them for a fairly low price, 125 euro or 100 pounds.

Should be quite a nice result, once lowered.

Also in, a new front bumper, installing the foglights in the coming weeks!

A lot to do, will post some pictures when it's all nice and done.

And almost the same as the uno turbo wheels, i know. I just thougth it would be nice to fill the arches a bit more, as it is already going to lowered..

Oh well, i'll give it another few days. And if I don't like 'em, some Alfista will probably want them for his 33 or Alfasud or something!:)

Liking your Uno!! my mum had a 1994 1.4 i.e S and it was a really nippy car.

She did about 200,000 miles in it, and we fitted Uno turbo alloys which really made the car.

I've got a 1989 mk1 Uno myself, fitted some "13" inch o.z Fiat alloys which look great.

And lowered the car 40mm, as I couldn't get standard springs that would make the car sit properly after one of the originals broke!!

Had to replace various brake components, exhaust etc.. and at the moment I use it for competing in Auto testing which is a lot of fun :)

And thank you for taking a look at my project!

You are right, it is such a nice and nippy car, loads of fun. It is now running properly (had to fix the thermostat, distributorcable got loose, air filter, etc. etc.)

So now the wheels are first, then the lowering, welding a little rust spot and.... fitting a new front bumper with foglights!! Thanks to Bartr from the dutch forum (also a member here, check the restored Uno Turbo topic), this puppy is gonna be b-e-a-uuuutiful!

There are still some available, I found this one at a place that sold an old fiat dealer stock of parts! It is now fitted, and adds a little grunt to the sound!
Also fitted, with help of my Uno Club Holland friends, an open air filter from a 1.5. Even more sound! Ill post some Pics later on.
