Thumbs up An Absolute Dualogic E.TorQ 1.8 16V Flex from Brazil!

Hello from Brazil, guys!

Well, I know I'm veeery very late, but here I am! For the beggining, I'd like to say (what I'm sure that you all now it) that this is the best-known and maybe the best Internet Forum about Fiat all around the Web!

My ride must be kinda a mistery to you. The easy part is that it's a "Nuova" Bravo (198) fitted to the world reknowed C510 Dualogic Gearbox.

The "surprise factor" is the engine! Named E.TorQ, it was developed by Fiat Powertrain Technologies here in Brazil, using the old Mini One/Cooper (R50/52/53) engine, Tritec, as a starting point. Actually they're both produced at the same factory in Campo Largo, Paraná (Brazil) and E.TorQ is something like 80% new comparing to the almost great Tritec (some guys say that Tritec is even stronger than Prince).

As it's a brazilian-built and developed engine, of course it's flex-fuel to. In other words, it can burn 100% pure petrol, 100% pure ethanol or any other mix of them.

At the moment, both 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter are offered, always with the SOHC 16V head. 1.6's bore and stroke are the same as Tritec one: 77 mm x 85,8 mm. The 1.8-liter one maintains the same stroke with a 80,5 mm bore. The great thing about this engine is that 80% of the torque is avaible at low 1,500 rpm and 93 % is avaible just at 2,500 rpm, it's such a elastic unit! Other great point is that every single performance part made for Mini fits E.TorQ (least the pistons on the 1.8-liter version)!

Well, back to Bravo, we brazilians can't buy diesel-powered cars unless they're all wheel drive AND able to carry at least 2,200 pounds, so it's only offered with the 1.4-liter 16V Turbo T-JET (that isn't powered with the Multiair system yet), producing 152 PS and 225 nm and the 1.8-liter 16V E.TorQ Flex, that produces 130/132 PS and 181/184 nm (with petrol and ethanol, respectively).

Bravo debuted here in late-2010 as 2011 model and the trims availble were Essence (the entry-level, E.TorQ-powered in both 5-speed manual or Dualogic gerabox), Absolute (the top-level, E.TorQ-powered in both 5-speed manual or Dualogic gearbox) and T-JET (the sport-level, bviously T-JET-powered and only offered with the C635 6-speed manual gearbox). From MY-2013, the Sporting trim is avaible, based on Essence but sharing some parts with T-JET as the sport seats, the suspension and the body-kit, but maintaing E.TorQ and C510 (manual or Dualogic).

Other great improvement released in MY-2013 is what Fiat Automóveis do Brasil call as Dualogic Plus. Now, Dualogic is even smoother and has three more important functions: Creeping, Parabolic Shift Gear and Auto-up Shift Abort. The first one is a great-known resource from the traditional automatic transmission: when you release the brake pedal, the car starts to move slowly. The second one is related to a electronically-controled leaps smoothing, now they're only felt on sport driving, just to enhace the feeling of sportinees. Finally, the last one is based on how much power do you need: if the pressure discharge on the accelerator pedal is high, the system recognizes the need for power and lower a gear to provide torque (Example: 5th goes down to 4th gear). If the pressure is low, the gear is kept

Telling my Bravo's history, I know some people from Betim's factory and one of these guys offered my to request any car I wanted, so it would be use as press car for two years and then sold to me. So did I! I ordered a top-line Absolute Dualogic, with all the optionals that I could buy, least the front parking sensor (here the 18' wheels and the Xenon Headlights are disponible only for the T-JET trim)! That means that my car has:

- Seven airbags
- Skydome electrical sunroof
- RadioNAV (that 6,5' display, I don't know it's name there!)
- Black leather seats
- HiFi sound system with Subwoofer
- Dualtemp air conditioning systenm
- Paddle shifters
- Cruise control
- Auto-diming internal mirror
- Rear parking sensor
- Rain sensor
- Light sensor
- Dualdrive steering system
- 17' wheels + 215/45 R17 Pirelli P7 tires
- Tire pressure sensor
- Auto-folding external mirrors

Talking a little bit about the color, I don't know if it was offered there in Europe! It's name is Grey Tellurium, and looks like a metalic bronze, it's beautiful! I NEVER saw other Bravo with the same packge as mine. I already saw some Grey Tellurium and I saw very equiped ones too, but none of them was top line nor top line AND Grey Tellurium!

As I work travelling, now it has such a high mileage: 50,000 miles (we measure in kilometers here, what is 80,000 km!). And what impress me at most is how the car still running as it was brand new!

So folks, that's it! Hope you enjoy this brazilian intruder ride over here!

CHEERS!

PS.: Sorry about the bad quality photos guy, better ones are coming soon!!

Welcome to the forum.

Looks like the only option you're missing is the xenon headlights.

How many BHP does your car have?

Thank you man!

Yeah, it's missing the Xenon Headlights but that's an option restricted to the most spory trim - T-JET! So once my car is an Absolute, xenon is not missing!

As it is flex-fuel, it produces 130 BHP (@ 5,250 rpm) and 182 nm (@ 4,500 rpm) when running with petrol and 132 BHP (@ 5,250 rpm) and 186 nm (@ 4,500 rpm) when running with ethanol!

Such a great engine, at low 1,500 rpm we already have 146/149 nm (depending on the fuel used at the moment) and @ 2,500 rpm the torque output is high 169/173 nm! Of course it's not a truck and not even comparable to a diesel unit, but for a 4-stroke 16V engine this numbers are great!

I forgot to post it, but this cars performance number are:

0-62 mph (0-100 km/h): 9,9 seconds
Top speed: 121 mph (193 km/h) but I already achieved 125 mph (exactaly 200 km/h) measured by GPS on a flat road.

Thanks man! Yeah, we own such a great machine equipped with such great optionals! But I'm still jealous of the Multijet engine... How I wish I own a Bravo Sport 165!!

Well, IDK about yours, but mine DO miss one thing (and it's not the xenon headlights ): the front parking sensor!

Re: An Absolute Dualogic E.TorQ 1.8 16V Flex from Brazil!

Yes Tad, i'm a Clube do Bravo (something like Bravo Club) member. My user name there is BarcellosC.

By the way you are all invited to register on the forum. It's easy and our folks will be very happy to have you there!

A great curiosity is that the Classic Bravo wasn't sold here, just Marea, Marea Weekend and Brava. So all the members' Bravos are Type 198.

After each car photo I will describe a little bit about it such as the colour, the trim level and the mods.

Here we have two more colour options than you: The sporty trims (Sporting and T-JET) are offered with Modena Red and Indianápolis/Interlagos Yellow, wich are the SAME tonalities as Ferrari's ones. The difference between the yellows is only the name: from MY-2011 to MY-2012 it's Indianápolis Yellow, and from MY-2013 to now it's Interlagos Yellow.

The following photos are from the last meeting I went.

A Vesuvius Black (metallic black) Absolute Dualogic

A Banchisa White T-JET

A Bari Silver base-level Essence

An Indianápolis Yellow T-JET

An Interlagos Yellow Sporting Dualogic

Mine: a Tellurium Grey Absolute Dualogic

A Scandium Silver Essence with some mods (wheels, T-JET pipe, painted bumpers and a yellow sticker on the fog lights

An Alpine Red Absolute with some mods (black piano painted wheels, T-JET pipe, Eibachs and a yellow sticker on the fog lights

Re: An Absolute Dualogic E.TorQ 1.8 16V Flex from Brazil!

Well, as you know, things in Brazil aren't like things in Europe. Here our entry level car isn't Classic Panda, but Classic Uno (yes, almost the same as your Mk1 Uno.). The next one, instead of Panda is Novo Uno (New Uno, a entirely new car lauched in 2010). Them, equiparing to your Punto we have Palio (now Mk5, other entirely new car lanched in late 2011). For something like Bravo is in Europe, we have Punto EVO. And Bravo here is like a BMW 1-Series, Mercedes A-Class and so.

Just for you to know, a brand new top spec Bravo Absolute Dualogic (as mine) is R$79,815 what means 24,52 Euros or 20,747 British Pounds. Mine one (top spec with 50,000 miles), that was built in 2010 but is MY-2011 (what we call here 2010/2011) can be sold for R$53,500 what is 16,656 Euros or 13,901 British Pounds. How much is one like mine (use the top spec 1.6 Multijet 120 Dualogic as base) there? 9,000 Euros? 7,500 British Pounds? See: cars here are something like twice more expensive!

Finally, a brand new top spec Bravo T-JET (with Xenon Headlights, front parking sensor etc.) is R$84,807, something like 26,407 Euros or 22,035 British Pounds.

Cars here are EXPENSIVE!

Your colour looks lovely. I don't even know what my colour is although I've never seen one my colour before other than one of the moderators had a sport the same.
This is mine

Also that white bravo is gorgeous. How come none of you have a rear fog light? It's almost like you get two reverse lights instead?

Great pics! Thanks for sharing.

I wish I had a bravo club where I live

Those extra colors look really sweet on the bravo, very nice cars.

The only thing not so nice about Brazilian bravos is they come with higher suspension as standard.

BTW, the bravo costs about the same here as in Brazil so I know who you feel about your car, it's not a cheap car like some UK people think

Thank you my friend!

Here we have a colour that's close to yours (Chrome Grey), it's beautiful and rare, just like yours!

About the rear fog lights, Stilo brought this ones back in 2002-2011, but as our climate (unfortunatelly) isn't Londoner it was almost useless and users used to disapprove them, so Fiat decided to put a second reverse light instead!

It such a great thing to have a Bravo Club here, almost every month we meet and it's a great experience exchange, just like Fiat Forum, but only with Bravo owners.

Yeah, I think this colors work very well on Bravo and I woud love to buy a Interlagos Yellow T-JET!

Here the ride hight is higher then there because a great part of our streets are "provided" with broken asphalt, so if it's too low, the underside will scrape a lot! Of course it looks kinda crappy, but we have to be happy with it (or install H&R/Eibachs ). So Essence and Absolute have high hights and Sporting and T-JET are 20 mm lower.

If you pay attention, mine is lower than convetional Essence and Absolute and as low as Sporting and T-JET (you can note it on that photo that my car is between a Interlagos Yellow Sporting and a Scandium Grey Essence, both of them running in OEM suspension). The reason for it is that it's with T-JET suspension, what means lower car, greater looking and super-greater stability!! Thats the only mod in my car!

BTW: is our T-JET as low as yours? I think so, but I'm not sure!

WOW! I thought cars there in United Kingdon were cheaper! Here we have lots and lots and lots of taxes and cars here become really expensive! The imported ones get even worse. You see: a brand new Ferrari California is sold here for some like 350,000 British Pounds. I think that only brand new cars built in our Nations can be compared. Imported ones and pre-owned ones are more expensive here.

Now that you mentioned it, let me share a experience with you. Most of Brazilian people think that Fiat only produces cheap cars and if they have to choose for exemple between a Mk2 Focus or a Mk2 Bravo, a Mk2 i30 or a Mk2 Bravo, most of them would by the Hyundai or the Ford! IDK the reason for the prejudice...
