Panda (Classic) LVJ the scrap yard 4x4

Introduction

Ok, for those who don't know this is my latest acquisition.

I didn't really expect to win the ebay auction so I didn't view it first.

This will either be amazing or a lesson in how not to buy a car

Still trying to work out how to collect it without it being silly money, If I can get a car trailer for a day my brother has offered to help with his isuzu pickup.

Open to other offers though as he notoriously changes his mind if he gets a better offer for his time (like the pub being open ).
Very nice! Needs a hoover has it been a farm hack?

Been used as a sheep feeder/hay transporter I believe.

Not a problem as I was reared on a farm so don't mind a bit o' muck :)

Where is the car and how far to yours? My mate has a transporter trailer. :)

Car is near Hereford at the mo and I'm 190miles NE near York.

From mine to Hereford to York and back home is exactly 500 miles. That's at least £80 of diesel and ten hours (50mph limit towing).

Sorry I doubt my mate would be up for it. :(

Thanks for taking th time to work it out - lowest quote so far is £179.

I was thinking more of £150 as I didn't take this into account when bidding, things will be a bit tight later in the month - good job it's not Christmas or anything

I can buy an A frame for £150 delivered, with the tow bar off the 4x4 and on Fizzle I could off road without worrying about not being able to get home.

Seriously though an A frame would be a useful piece of kit to have.

hi.....dont worry...thats exactly the same way i acquired bucket and he wasn't such a bad buy. spooky that your one is the same colour that bucket was. good luck with it.

with the inside, i'd just do a strip clean. use carpet shampoo on everything and vax it off.
the carpets... i'd just hang them over the washing line and blast them with the jetwash. they come up looking new!

it also gives you a good look at the floor pan, and also around the boot. dont forget the check under the sound proofing in the front foot wells where the wheel arches meet the floor pan. that is a common place for water to get in.

UK laws are pretty crappy where it comes to moving vehicles around. its a money making game really and the excuse is "safe on the road".

I've had a very quick look, it starts runs, has a flat tyre - (but a brand new spare) - no coolant in the reservoir and oil liberally sprayed about the head gasket area.

Both doors are flapping at the bottom, all the wheel arches are gaffer taped, there's a hole in the middle of the boot and in one headlight.

Four wheel drive light either not operative or I'm not getting the lever in the right position.

There are no rear seats but seat belt reels present.

It has a clock - which works, a partly illuminated dash, a LW/MW radio cassette, cigar lighter, a hay strewn interior which smells country fresh and a dints in every panel.

All in all it's perfect for me to thrash around the green and brown bits of North Yorkshire without worrying about spoiling it :D

I can't find my camera but hopefully will by the weekend

Mother hates it as it makes the drive "look like a scrap yard" and I have "2 months to get rid of A car" :(

Just for that I may sell the mk3 and take her shopping in the blue beast

Haha, this reminds me of when I lived at home

To be honest my mother (and dad) still tell me the same now that I have my own house haha!!

"You can't get another panda until you sell something else...blah blah"

"but I only have 4 pandas...people on the forum are laughing at me" hahaha!!

Glad it's not only me!! I still get the "what's that on the drive?!" from Mum when she spots another one - the answer is usually "it's a Panda!" which she knew of course....... ;)
