Punto (Mk2/2b) Bye bye to all my fiat friends

I wasn't being a smartarse or using sarcasm.........

You need to express yourself a little better then because your post (#9) came across as an over the top reaction which was made to me look silly, to a (perhaps silly in reflection) light hearted comment I made aimed at those who have modified thier car in the past and have not declared it either by accident or knowingly (and let's face it we all know who we are). And I include myself for which I regret as i am not perfect and I was a lot younger and more careless back then. It's like speeding it's frowned upon but some of us still do it for our sins.

I'm not on here to fall out with anyone - I'm really not but I wasn't expecting that sort of reaction hence why I'm getting on my soap box about it and naturally defending myself. Plenty of people on here say a lot of things that I don't agree on but I won't try and make them look silly then get upset when they react.

But yes back on topic jamaljalilyour new car looks great! (y) love the 3 door Astra I'ld have one myself if I wasn't so into fiat :)

yes its "1.4" for cheap insurance but has little twist mate....got a 1.6 turbo sri engine inside mate...177 brake..blowing with the wind... hence why its a beast! :p

Its a forum so 'jumping in' is encouraged...and it seems pretty obvious that the OP is attempting to defraud the insurance company because he says so in his post.

Well as the dvla still have it down as a 1.4 I can only conclude either its not 1.6 turbo and the op is talking doodoo or there is an intention to defraud the insurance co

That said why would anyone take a 2010 Astra and spend all that money swapping engine gearbox, suspension and brakes when they could just go buy an 1.6 to start with.... The only scenario I can think of is if a car had been in a serious accident or stolen and someone has used the details from a 1.4 on a completely different car, I'm inclined to believe that hiding under the bonnet is a 1.4 88bhp engine. Yes I totally agree, it's the likeliest scenario - he just wanted to make his car look big. Guess well never know :D

It amazes me what some people will spend on a car modifying it when they could have had a better one in the first place and a wedge of cash left in there back pocket.

Yes I know what you mean, there's a lad at work who once bought a 106 GTI but it was an ex MAXPOWER feature car and had the full dimma kit on with split rim wheels and a huge ICE system. The lad he bought it from spent the best part of £18000 doing all up and sold to this lad at work for about £4000 I think?

I guess for some people it's the thrill of taking a standard car and "creating" something no matter what the cost.
