Cinquecento My '93 1.4 16v Cinquecento

Introduction

Hi everyone,

After best part of ten years with various Italian cars, I'm now back where I started.... with a Cinq!!

I bough it already converted to 1242 16v power but it will be undergoing a lot of work to improve and tidy bits here and there.

Since buying it I've swapped the K&N for a CDA, I've re-fitted the orange front indicators and flushed the coolant and fitted a cleaner expansion tank. Alternator belt changed, that's fun with the engine mount being so close! Major service coming soon as well.

Please excuse the crappy pictures, my phone is rubbish!!

Rear window is tinted, that will be coming off:

Has a 1.6 16v Bravo TB, RR'd at 89bhp:

With my standard Seicento Sporting:

Lots of stuff on the to do list including fitting Spax kit (ordered), move the battery back in to the engine bay, moving ECU to other side of engine bay, polybush nearly everything I can buy a polybush for, put rear seats back in, upper and lower strut bar and fit Uno turbo calipers! Should keep me busy!

Lots more little jobs need doing, car has been keyed so that needs doing as well. I might upgrade to a 1.4 at some point but I won't get too carried away yet!

Overall though it's a cracking little car, so much fun and once I've sorted a few bits (mainly the brakes and the suspension!!) it should be fantastic.

you want wider track at front not the rear.. Need to know that ET though to know what size you should run.

Is the front track not wider than the rear already?

Misfire appears to be a combination of MAP sensor and Lambda, changed MAP but not had chance to change Lambda yet.

Fitted new Strongflex bushes into new gearbox mount, got the engine side as well but not rear gearbox. Keeping standard for that one!

And Spax kit arrived, woohoo! :slayer:

So Spax kit and polybushed wishbones will hopefully be fitted this weekend if I have time:

Can't wait to get Spax kit on, whilst it will be stiff it will be much nicer than what's on there now!

Oh, and now I'm broke!!!

yes the track is wider standard, but even a stock cinq sporting should have 3mm spacers on front and nothing at the rear... By fitting what you said the rear would be wider.

Anyhow, messing with the track width does funny things, i'm not gonna be a killjoy and say don't use them for anything other than ET correction but just be warned it massively effects handling characteristics changing it.

And many shiny parts to go on, don't you just love it when you spot the postman and know he has new shiny car parts for you :D

Bye bye old one!

Hello new one! Also went with brand new standard one for the rear, no polybush.

Fitted some new speakers, they were cheap and they're not amazing by most people's standards but they are 100% better than what was in there!

Fitted my trusty Alpine as well, been in nearly every car I've owned!

Exhaust fell off :bang: now has standard rear and middle. Will be making custom soon.

This is how she looks now, notice the dents in the door where the wind blew the wheelie bin in to it. Not happy!

Is a Spax 60/40 kit but I've swapped the rear springs for FKs that are more like a 50mm drop. Spax was just too high at the rear.

1.6 Bravo throttle body has come off, was leaking around the idle control valve. I can't work out how to get it out with breaking it, it's pushed in rather than bolted on like the 1.2 TB. With the 1.2 TB back on and the standard exhaust it feels noticeably slower, have to sort soon!!

Also, it managed to chew up the crank sensor wire which was causing the misfire!

We've just put deposit on a 100HP as a daily runner so my Cinq will be spending less time on the road so few more upgrades soonish (hopefully including 1.4 16v :slayer:)

Cheers (y) I'm keeping my eye out for a standard 900 in the same colour so I can park next to it and take a photo to compare ride heights!!!

Dent was really annoying but then our Alfa 145 got crashed the next day so I got over the dent! Think the only way to sort the dent will be a 1.4 16v engine.

On the plus side, our now dead Alfa is a 1.6 and has the 257mm front discs so I've got the choice of them or the Uno Turbo calipers. Don't think I can bring myself to taking the Revolutions off though, I love them!

Shame about the dent Could you not take the door card off and push most of the dent out? :) looks about the right height :)

I may be interested in some parts from the 145 - I have a 145 QV! ;)

Chris

I've just bought my second 145....got a 1.8, and just bought a QV.

I'm sure someone else on the 145 forum has got a Cinq as well....some sort of pattern emerging here...:what:

I've noticed this too..

And I swear recognise Duncan name too - were you at Spring Alfa Day at the cotswolds when it poured down? 2012 maybe?

This has gone off topic but atleast it's all Italian ;)

Looking good. Try the revos over the brakes mine seemed to just about fit iirc on an initial fit upworth a try

The 257mm discs behind 13s??? I didn't think it was possible, gonna have to try that. Did you use any spacers? Caliper clearance looks pants on the Revos though....

Yeah, I'm off the 145 forum :D and I've been to several Spring Alfa days where it rained a lot!!

I had 15mm spacers on are yours from an Alfa which is what mine are from. It's worth a try pretty sure after I fitted the brakes I tried them and they went on. I now run 14s revolution so I can use 195/45 uniroyals

No idea, they are 4x98 but 13x5.5, think I'm right in saying you had 6j?
Not sure what ET mine are but 15mm spacers would make them stick out a mile! I'm definetly going to try that though, I'll be stoked if I can keep the wheels and have the stopping power, cheers mate!
