Panda (Classic) Snatch Panda

Introduction

It's taken a while but I'm going to try uploading some photos..

Inspired by Snatch Land Rovers deployed to Gulf War I, Afghanistan and previously in Northern Ireland, I wondered how the Panda version might have turned out..

Dragonman gave me a useful kick early on and David, Aquamarine has been wonderfully helpful throughout -thank you both.

Things got a bit loose with the interpretation as I got carried away - so the mudflaps aren't necessary (but I like how rally cars look) and the bonnet lamps are because of a soft spot for the Matra Rancho. - Please be reassured that only a rusty bonnet was harmed in the making of this modification.

Similarly - all the changes can be undone fairly easily if Sisley prices continue to head for the stratosphere.. So I didn't paint the grill and I have kept a good unmodified bullbar to one side.

Hope you like it. Let me know what you think.
I confess that like Nic, I needed the Land Rover boys and their kit at one point too. - But that was down to my poor driving unlike in Nic's case where it sounded like it was some errant ground to blame.. and nothing to do with the driver at all.

I repeat - at no point was the car towed or recovered by anyone - she will be most insistent on that point! All it needed was a fat bloke (i.e. me) pulling the back wheel down. However, I can state for the record that the fact it got stuck in the hole in the first place was entirely her being more confident than careful! :)

MOT secured with only minor discussion, so that's one fewer things between me and Italy 2017..

As you can see I've somehow ended up with a left hand drive headlamp lens (I'm sure that passed last year, but anyway) does anyone have a right hand drive right hand side lamp or lens please..?

Also see new fly rod mounts - to make quick deployment at likely looking spots more straight forward..

Yup, it's "Salmon Fishing in The Melling"...

Sorry.

Next in the series - "what have you used first gear for recently?"..

When your "beautifully engineered" German sports car's gearbox decides to select first and reverse at the same time, whilst it is half way out of the garage.

- Two foot jack pull on soft ground...? - Like a champ!(y)

We live in interesting times.

Thought I'd update this thread with the Snatch refresh work begun during Covid lockdown. I hope, something positive coming out of something very negative. (y)

Swapping the steel Punto rims, which have got a bit rusty, for the Delta HF Turbo ones. - I prefer the look and fit of the steels but they look a bit shabby after (only) five years of abuse. ...And I washed them every year.

Driver's door has gone a bit rusty..

Front panel has had a refresh and repainting has begun there, with everything behind it still to do.

Threads are great to read back over during these times and remind me of stories and fun from the past. It's why I'm throwing even more hours at keeping our Panda on the road. -Because there's nothing else like them for delivering fun with friends.
