If thats on first start up with no loss of water its normal
As all the hot air in the pistons inlet exhaust and exhaust manifold cool ivernight from dry hot air to cold moist air

As the engine warms up it evaporates and disappears

If i saw that i wouldnt think owt of it

op mentions above its smoking all the time mate,

mine (16v) kicks out a wisp on cold start, lasts less than a minute,

Brought it over at the garage. They also think the head is leaking again. They fixed it 12 months ago.

a Compression test and a Coolant pressure test will be the answer here

Compression test first
Then the coolant - wait 10 to 15mins at pressure - pull the plugs out and check to see if the cylinder has filled with water as it fires it out the spark plug hole with force

When its this cold tho - steamy exhaust fumes aint uncommon, as were all sucking up super wet moist cold air + Heat = Boils that water right off
