Seicento Project FS Sei

Introduction

It's certainly been a while since I've updated any motor info on here!

As FS celebrates it's 10th Birthday next year, we've been trying to find something that we can work on over the coming months and show off at the shows we attend in 2014.

This far north there simply isn't a used car market. Well, there is, but there's generally sod all on offer under a grand.

Saw this on ebay the other day and noticed it was for sale on here as well. The rest, as they say, is history.

We've quite a lot to do - bar cosmetics, the immediate plan is to get the rear suspension working again and replace a snapped exhaust. Already got shocks from a local factors and a replacement exhaust from the local scrappy for a tenner. Good times :)

Some de stickering and de light tinting has already taken place. Hopefully on Monday/Tuesday we'll replace the shocks, springs and exhaust. MOT is due in September so we want to get it ready for a pre-mot in the next few weeks :)

A long way to go but a fairly decent base to start from.

The interior has two bucket seats but they're fixed in place and I'm a short arse. Have been offered MK1 Punto Sporting seats, which I may well explore.

I'm under no illusion of how much we need to do to get this presentable, but already the amount of heads we've turned and enthusiastic waves we had on the drive back to Aberdeen is encouraging.

Watch this space.
First update in ages...for several reasons, including house and job moves, yellow aint moved in months.

Today we fitted a new battery...did a little fettling and drove round thr yard for the first time since feb.

Still hunting slightly but we have a plan of attack. Watch this space :)

Yikes - it's been a while since the yellow thread was updated!

Since my last post we've had MOT attempt #3 I think? Brakes locked on during the trip to the centre so that was aborted. The car moved twice (via trailer) and last March myself and Martin ripped the old 1.2 engine out. It was very spritely, but if you've watched the videos or heard yellow in action something wasn't quite right and every MOT attempt failed on emissions - something we couldn't get to the bottom of. As always, life and other priorities get in the way and yellows been left on his own in my garage...til the last few days :slayer:

So...today. Martin travelled down from Forres for our latest stab at this! He's very kindly donated the 1.1 engine from his old Cinquecento to the project, along with the stock ECU. We're going to try and get our pass with the stock setup (bar the supersprint mani ;) ) then look at the engine long term. It'd be nice to get a ticket on the 1.2 yellow arrived with, but that's for another day!

I had a list of tasks I hoped we'd achieve today, but in the end we managed to just about get the block in place. We knew this would be tricky, so I'm glad its more or less there. Especially as we only had around 4 hours of useful daylight. Also, no hoists or engine cranes meant this had to be fitted with brute force and a lot of trial & error. As it stands we're literally a bolt away from being done with the block before we fit the new head gasket, refit the head and then wire it all up again. The very last mount, on the o/s, is being something of a pain. We'll get there though!

The plan is to reconvene asap and get the engine fully plumbed in and running. Beyond that we have a new brake master cylinder to fit as the brakes decided to act up on yellows last MOT run... then fit a new stock exhaust and at that point check over again...

Feels like we may just make some progress this year ;)
