Punto (Mk1) About time really

Introduction

Well, having been a member since 2008, I should probably put a few bits up about my Punto.

Bought with a laundry list of problems, and feeling sorry for the old beast, I've spent a lot of hours and probably too much cash:

  • Fitting a new clutch and slave cylinder (the reason I got the car to start with).
  • Changing the rusty bonnet, damaged front bumper, O/S/F wing and drivers' door.
  • Replacing the ECU (somehow lost the code).
  • Visiting Brighton, to pick up a set of 15 inch Bravo Abarth Speedlines.
  • Replacing the Ansa backbox and snapped exhaust centre section with a Sportex cat-back system.
  • Swapping the standard steering wheel for a Sparco one when the airbag light came on.
  • Fitting replacement dashboard bulbs and Lockwood white dials.
  • 2 cheapo head units (current one from Aldi, featuring CD, MP3, USB, Bluetooth and a remote!)
  • Exhaust downpipe/flexi and lambda section.
  • A couple of O/S headlamps
  • A bargain genuine radiator.
Plus a whole load of odds and ends I can't remember.
Enough chatter, pics:

And a day I felt rather proud:

Hopefully, there'll be more to come.
Check me out with all these updates!

The saga is still ongoing: Engine's running alright now, but the injector light keeps popping up.

Anyone know if a cheapo eBay code reader with an adaptor cable stands any chance of working?

Plus, I've ben waiting over a month for a 2nd hand wiper linkage to arrive from eBay. I understand the seller has other things to worry about, and it ended at 99p, but a month?

you need a fiat 3pin to obd adpator (just stick 'fiat 3 pin' in ebay and it bring them up) coupled with a vagcom cable.

Then download IAWScan2 (google it, its completely free to download) or MultiEcuScan free version will read the codes, can't remember is free MES clears codes or not though.

Well Stanford's gonna be a no go for the Punto.

Keeps cutting out, but will idle fine on the driveway.

Plus I've fried the diagnostic tool adaptor cable I got from eBay. oops.

Anyone recommend a hire firm?

Still having problems:

In my attempts to sort out this running problem, I've managed to melt a diagnostic adaptor lead, wait 2 hours for a mate with a laptop & software which wouldn't connect, and borrow my sisters laptop to try multiecuscan. This has also failed to connect.

I'm out of ideas: Any more suggestions?

The garage who scanned it are unable to clear the codes, they think there's an ECU problem.

For giggles, here's what it came up with (apologies if it's too small to read):

I'm off to Google "ECU repairs"...
