Dear All,

I have a 1.9 8V Multijet Croma with a 2-zone climate system, and my problem that it doesn't blow cold air.
The system is filled with gas, the compressor starts working (as I hear), but the blowed air temperature is the same as the outer temp. I've checked all the fuses too...

Does anyone have suggestions how to solve this failure? The summer heat is coming....

Thanks for all!

Peter

How do you know the system is gasses have you had it recently done?

Aircon is a dumb system if there is gas in the system and the compressor kicks in and is working properly then you will get a temperature difference at the evaporator and cooled air, however if the gas is low the compressor may only kick in for a few seconds or struggle to build a sufficient pressure difference across the system to maintain a noticeable temperature difference.

Simply put if everything is as you say then there is refrigerant gas but not enough. If systems leak and are topped up with shop bought top up cans then you can also find this problem because the system has pressure but not enough refrigerant.

You need a proper air con technician to look at the system, vacuum and gas it properly

I've used the ezchill system from Halfords to check / top up aircons of various cars and provided there's no damage to the system it works quite well.
Many cars have their aircon off by default and during the winter in particular drivers don't use their aircon systems because they don't need to. However, the aircon system itself needs to be used and like any other part on a car if you don't use it for an extended period it will stop working as well / fail completely.

Having said that if you've only got 1 car and given the price of the ezchill system I'd reccommend going to a garage to get it checked professionally. At the moment there are several doing special offers and I'd suggest taking advantage.
