Panda (Classic) Charmanda(er) The Panda

Introduction

Name Change! Previously known as Charmania for anyone not in the know, she's had a slight rename, keeping the Char but sticking my favourite childhood Pokemon name in there, Charmander, mainly because the first time I ever encountered a Panda I was about 8 years old and Pokemon was my favourite thing in the whole world.

Some details,
1992 Fiat Panda 750 Mania
769cc FIRE engine.
Lowered 40mm.
Seicento Sporting Front Seats
Side Stripes for faster acceleration
Fiat 127 'Palio' Alloys.
Veglia Rev counter, so I can count my revs.

I washed her, wanted to take her somewhere nice for pictures but it hasn't been sunny for long enough to do that, so I'll get nicer pictures at some point....
Here she is now, Charmanda.

Sorry for the terrible lighting. Can't do much about the sun.
Went away for the day with some friends yesterday, a friend drove us all. Later in the day his back pain flared up and found it quite difficult to change gear. So after driving home, myself doing all the gear changes in the passenger seat we got back and Panda'd it up.
Charmanda hadn't been started for 4 days and summer has vanished over here so it was pretty chilly. Started her and made a hole in the ozone layer with a small cloud of smoke.
Compliments all round on character. I was a bit worried she was going to throw up a fuss starting her again when we left for home at midnight, since winter temperatures had decided to return. After much mocking of my 'old unreliable car' we got back to her in the carpark and started with no trouble at all.
(Thank you thank you thank you :worship:)
Got home, my sister (who drives a 2007 Corsa) says "My car is really loud and making horrible noises can you look at it tomorrow"
Exhaust is blowing right where the CAT joins. :bang:

And people still say my 'old' car is unreliable....

More fun videos!
Not really an issue but just something that bugs me, I was picking up a friend, stopped outside his house but he was struggling to open the boot (couldn't seem to grasp that you have to push the button all the way in) anyway I got out to help him and noticed the smoke coming from my exhaust was coming out from two places.
If you look really closely in the video you can just about see it coming out behind the chrome tip. In reality its much more noticeable. The bit of pipe between the tip and the muffler itself don't have any visible holes so I assume its just coming out from where the tip joins to the exhaust?
It's not really a problem since its right at the end. It bugs me anyway.

The exhaust tip is cosmetic and is not sealed to the tailpipe so you are bound to get a little leakage. When the engine is properly warmed up you shouldn't see any smoke anyway.
I thought as much, was still running a little choke when I filmed this. Also I'm very rarely standing behind the car when its running. Just checking its not going to be a problem :)

I'm thinking of putting a little red pin stripe on Char's bumpers like the sport Tipo

I'm not sure if it'd look good, thoughts?

Also I'm not sure what the red stripe is actually made of on the Tipo, is it a bit of plastic? Painted on?

pretty sure its actually a bit of red plastic trim.. not sure a stick on go faster stripe thingy would stick to the plastic bumpers.. not sure how you should do it basically but i think it would look good.
Well Panda bumpers have a little lip about half way up, so I was thinking, with the aid of masking tape I could paint little pin stripes just below the lip. I'll get a picture of what I mean in a bit.

I keep thinking about a red infill from under the lip to the bottom of the bumper, leaving the chin spoiler black. Probably leave the vents over the number plate unpainted too, there is a kind of natural line to follow.

Need to photoshop it really, it's copying the y10 turbo look.

I was planning on doing something like this if I'd kept her, I think the pin stripes could look good too. (y)

Not sure I'm brave enough to paint that big an area...

Think I'll buy the red pin striping and see how it looks, if it looks crap I can just remove it :)

Thats when Jamie owned that Y10, i can tell cause its outside his garage in Lacock ;) Same lad i bought both my cinq turbo and sei turbo off. He doesn't post on here now though - he's not had an italian car in ages now.

I'd like a Y10 one day, was my favourite car of that era and remember seeing one parked locally when first out and being really struck by the look of it. Second favourite was Talbot Samba, my car choices have always been a bit off beat
