Panda (Classic) Godiva -- the blue 750L (L is for "Low mileage")

Introduction

PIPPIN -- the blue 750L (L is for "Low mileage")

Well, having not "driven stick" for many, many years, picking up Pippin (the Panda formerly known as Godiva...) was one heckuvanadventure...!

It was fun, though! And I got him/her up to an indicated 70 mph, at one stage; but s/he cruises rather nicely between 60 and 65 mph. (It's a good job s/he doesn't have a rev counter...!) S/he also drove really well in heavy traffic in town... (it's the Shakespeare Birthday Weekend, here; and really sunny...). :D

Here s/he is, parked outside Black Cat Motors, in Stratford-upon-Avon: waiting to be MOT'd, serviced, and given a thorough once-over. (And I make no apologies for promoting them as a garage: they deliver sterling service -- which includes taking their customers all the way to pick up their new cars...! A big thank-you to John, the owner, therefore, for whizzing me up the A46 in his swish 4.2 Audi A8, earlier...! And for commenting that "It doesn't look like a twenty-three-year-old car, does it?") (y)

Thanks to everyone for their help and support -- especially to purple haze for bringing him/her to my attention...! :worship:

Watch this space...!

PS: Not a bad way to celebrate my 1,500th post to the Forum, eh...?!

How Pippin looks now -- after a light fettling from VmanC... :slayer:

Well... Godiva's had the welding done, the suspension bits replaced, new tyres and exhaust fitted; went for her re-test, earlier today... -- and flew through! :woot:

Even better, the garage are going to deliver her to a parking spot around the corner, on Friday evening; supply a pair of magnetic L plates (John's comment being "and as it's a good one, there's even metal to stick them to...!"), and "arrange a red bow to wrap the car in"...! :D

A little more subterfuge, and we'll be there...!

Will be no good for you, designed for Vauxhalls only, in their separate display unit with clock and external temp display built in.

This very true, however our friendly fraudsters Halfords now do an adaption wire which means this can be bypassed if you really want but it's a right ball-ache (n)

Not into "ball-ache" (well, not willingly, anyhoo...) -- but thanks for the info! (y)

May have found the answer, though... -- but I shall let you all know, if/when it works out....

We want pics of this red bow!

Your wish is my command! :D

We had a dress rehearsal, at the garage, this afternoon... -- and Kirsty had adorned it (in advance of me getting there) in the homewardette's favourite colour... -- although it was a bit breezy...! :)

Just missing the L plates.... ;)

PS: I've already had two people offering to buy Godiva off me...!

Lovely, just needs some autoglym bumper gel now :p

Having heard good things about it, I'm going to give a bottle of this a try (if one bottle's enough...)!

Carplan Black Trim Wax 375ml: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike
I shall report back.... Sadly, it will have to wait until after the presentation, though: as there just won't be enough time, in advance, to give the car the clean and polish it deserves.... :(

Or a hot air gun! Not on the rear arch guards though :nono: :p

To be honest, I don't trust myself to do this well; and I'm not convinced either of its longevity, or suitability for 23-year-old trim....

Talking of the rear arch guards, though: I notice the offside one isn't quite tight to the bodywork. Any suggestions as to how to remedy this, please...?

Take them off, they don't do a whole lot anyway apart from trap dirt and water. Other than that try the usual suspects for bits

doesn't look that bad without does it?

Regarding the trim restorer - use it sparingly and buff it off - otherwise you will more streaks down the body than the cast of TOWIE caught in a storm.
I used it on a white Golf once and didn't buff it off - nasty mess for months afterwards, I swear that stuff stains the paintwork too :(

They'll be staying on... -- for both of those reasons (not to mention originality...)! Also: it looks like I should be able to source a couple of new replacements... -- watch this space.... (y)

I ordered some from Fiat 18 months ago for ours. Can give you the part numbers if you want, about £15 a side iirc. :)

Ta! (y)

Just ordered a pair from Italy (Outlet Ricambi... -- which just means "spare parts outlet", I think... -- who I've used before; and have been very efficient...)! £21, the pair, including postage... -- and, being an utter cynic, I checked the part numbers on ePER about three times...! I shall let you know how I get on. (The nearside one is fine: I just know if I replace one, the other will never look as good....)
