Panda (Classic) Godiva -- the blue 750L (L is for "Low mileage")

Introduction

PIPPIN -- the blue 750L (L is for "Low mileage")

Well, having not "driven stick" for many, many years, picking up Pippin (the Panda formerly known as Godiva...) was one heckuvanadventure...!

It was fun, though! And I got him/her up to an indicated 70 mph, at one stage; but s/he cruises rather nicely between 60 and 65 mph. (It's a good job s/he doesn't have a rev counter...!) S/he also drove really well in heavy traffic in town... (it's the Shakespeare Birthday Weekend, here; and really sunny...). :D

Here s/he is, parked outside Black Cat Motors, in Stratford-upon-Avon: waiting to be MOT'd, serviced, and given a thorough once-over. (And I make no apologies for promoting them as a garage: they deliver sterling service -- which includes taking their customers all the way to pick up their new cars...! A big thank-you to John, the owner, therefore, for whizzing me up the A46 in his swish 4.2 Audi A8, earlier...! And for commenting that "It doesn't look like a twenty-three-year-old car, does it?") (y)

Thanks to everyone for their help and support -- especially to purple haze for bringing him/her to my attention...! :worship:

Watch this space...!

PS: Not a bad way to celebrate my 1,500th post to the Forum, eh...?!

How Pippin looks now -- after a light fettling from VmanC... :slayer:

Re: Pippin the Reservoir Panda

...or you could just twiddle the rubbers either end of the front edge of the bonnet up a couple of turns.

You are a genius, young sir...! :worship:

Went out to show Pippin some love, after my earlier faux pas; and, one 360° twiddle of each rubber (thank you, matron) later, and the bonnet release now works perfectly...! Thank you! (y)

Any foam is replaceable. Just need trimmers to cut to shape. The foam in apples front seat is beginning to crumble but I do have spares.

A parcel shelf will turn up..... Bridges is a huge scrap yard near gatwick..last time I was there I found 3 750L's and got Jon quite a few bits. It's worth ringing them every couple of weeks to see if they have one in.

I got 3 perfect doors at £25 each and a host of other things over the years.

Thanks for this! (y)

Just got an email back from Owen, at Bridges... -- none in at the moment. Will keep in touch with them, though.... :(

Palio -- my erstwhile navigator, wingman and cameraman... -- was admiring Pippin's leather steering wheel cover, whilst we were lapping Castle Combe Circuit at great speed, at the weekend.... :D

Here is where I got it from.

I've found -- with my hands not always having as much grip as they used to -- that the cover makes quite a bit of difference: both with the texture, and the added padding.... (y)

Also while at Castle Combe we discovered that Pippin has a hidden identity!

Maybe it was because we finally had enough sunshine that we were able to see that Pippin used to have 'Formula 90' stickers on it. :)

For anyone interested in such esoteric things, see this thread. (y)

At some stage, I will almost certainly have them recreated... -- just need to work out what colour they should be....

P P P P Pippin Poweeeerrrrr!!

Ok not the most exciting video ever, but there's more Panda mayhem over on the Castle Combe thread........... (y)

Ta! (y)

I wonder if there's any way of speeding this up, Benny Hill-style, so it looks as if I was lapping at 'sensible' speeds...?

I am so going to miss Pippin, once I hand him over.... (n)

It's a good job I've got Betty waiting in the wings.... (y)

Just blatted (and yes, you can blat in a 769 cc Panda...) home, around the local country lanes, following a 2008 Corsa GSi. He may have had me in the straights (of which there were very few...); but the corners were a real joy... -- and I hope he was as stunned as I was that I managed to keep up with him....

Happy days...! :D

I hope he was getting annoyed!! There is definitely a lot of malevolent satisfaction to hanging onto a much quicker car by driving better - er not that I'd ever do that, no sirreee, nope, not me, never, ahem....

Oh I do so enjoy lanes in a Panda, me and Char' often take the lanes to get about, the key is to get up to speed and then never use the breaks, it's fun sticking to 'faster' cars arses.
