Lightbulb Dash light warning light on - all lights appear working

SOLVED - Bulb wattage incorrect.
I had the warning light telling me there was a light out, the rear nearside tail light was off yet a tap on the light turned it on. I replaced the bulb to be safe (excellent position to fit retaining bolts so you can loose them into the frame!) now the light is ok but the warning light is still on. I checked every light on the car and all are working fine. Any ideas?

maybe this tap on the light is causing the issues
never seen one myself
is it hot water comes out or cold

might be best to take each and every bulb out and run the pip on the bulb on some sand paper and to scratch the contacts in the light fitting with a sharp implemen t
this should ensure better contact for the foreseable future and keep dashboard light off
sometimes ive done the above and actually changed every bulb but the light remains lit unfortunately

2) bulb warning light on is a feature of punto's at this stage, dont worry about it unless theres a bulb actually gone
But yeah its annoying, ya get used to it though, or just take off the dash and put a piece of black electrical tape over it

Thanks all, when i get time a good clean of all the contacts in the light assembly might be worth a shot.

Re: Dash light warning light on - all lights appear working

the tail lights share a common earth which is very small gauge and if you're doing a lot of stop start, night driving in foggy conditions the combination of tail lights brake lights fog lights indicators etc puts a lot of stress on the earth particularlly on the drivers side (fog light side) which gets hot and can melt the plug over heat the contacts causing poor connection etc so if you are cleaning up the contacts pay special attention to the drivers side and pinch the metal tangs in the plug up so they get a good contact, maybe run a thin file between them.

Re: Dash light warning light on - all lights appear working

Solved my issue:
I had used a 5W bulb on the tail light instead of a 10W !!
In case anyone needs the info the rear light assembly has 3 x P21W and 1 x R10W on each side.
