Panda (Classic) Fizzle :)

I heard that some of the heritage Mini panels arn't the best quality anymore as all the presses are ancient & knackered.

One of my upcoming projects is rebuilding a Mini into a brand new heritage shell, so far the shell appears to be pretty good, heritage panels are certainly much better than the aftermarket ones available, some might as well be from a different car!

Whilst new Panda bodyshells would be great, the availabilty of individual panels would be even better. If inner sills and floor repair sections etc were readily available it would make Fizzle a much more viable project, a huge amount of time is needed to fabricate up replacement panels, if these were available to buy then if would drastically reduce the amount of time needed.

Unfortunately I think it will be a long time until a manufacturer is prepared to fork out to tool up for Panda panels as there is not a big enough market to cover the cost at the moment. It will not be until Panda's start to become a mainstream classic that someone will start to think about making panels.

Its unlikely, nothing would fit onto the shell!

Getting so worn by 2003 or so they could fit an extra pair of doors on!

Knew I had read it somewhere! In the 2013 review of the new panda in the telegraph:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/8971139/Fiat-Panda-review.html

" original Panda of 1980 was basic, but so much like automotive Lego to build that Fiat produced it in three Italian plants; Mirafiori, Desio and Tremini, and one Sicilian, Imerese, which was closed this year. In 23 years, Fiat sold 4.5 million Pandas and it achieved a sort of utilitarian cult status, although the joke was that the last examples were 40 per cent larger than the originals because the press tools were so worn."

Seems it was a joke of sorts? :ROFLMAO:

really sorry to hear this John, i know it sounds bad, but i would consider stripping Fizzle down to the shell, then keeping everything off him.

you dont need much space to store a complete panda minus the shell as you have seen around here.. and i had all the 4x4 bits to contend with!

vai con dio, fizzle. you will make many others strong.

This is very true, it does literally take about 4 square metres of space to store an entire Panda minus the shell!

I'm recycling the built in wardrobes from the bungalow in the garage as racking for him to rest in pieces.

He's a few weeks left whole yet as the garage construction doesn't start until the 20th and takes a couple of weeks for the base to set.
