Bravo Bravo, a new member of the Fiat club

Introduction

picked it up on 23rd Jan, 1.9 m-jet 150 sport.
125k on the clock, so its nicely run in lol. but for £2995 its a lot of shiny motor for the money.
Couple of scuffs on the rear bumper, a little damage to a couple of the wheels, steering wheel peeling, need to replace the rear wiper arm, and the gear stick return-springs have had it.
Other than that the exterior looks good, and the interior is spotless. Black seats with blue patches looks excellent.
I love the bright white xenons, wheels and tinted windows, and lots of gadgets i've never had before like cruise control and proper trip computer. It feels plenty quick enough and although the steering lacks feel it makes for a relaxing cruiser, but with great overtaking ability.
My mk3 MR2 will still be my proper driving machine, but the Bravo makes for a great weekday ride.
I traded in my volvo S40 1.9 D S, with 209k on the clock for £350 off the bravo. Cheaper to insure, but much quicker, perfect!

Feel free to comment. (y)
I don't think you'll hang on to the MR2 much longer after you get used to the bravo, especially if you remap it and equip some of the gizmos that the sport model doesn't have as standard.

Really? I'm not trying to be controversial/trolling, but as much as it's been pretty decent for 3 (out of 4) years, I can't say the Bravo has dampened my enthusiasm for driving the 'weekend' sports car.

It's just my opinion, but I'd rather spend my weekends in the 5 star safety of the bravo, not to mention all the torque and economy of a remapped multijet.

Er... yeah not trolling either, I'll fight the Bravo's corner all day long as a pretty fun workhorse, but a 150hp FWD diesel hatch as a weekend car? Do you moonlight as an Accountant on the weekend or something?

You talk like you're driving at 200mph on weekends which is complete nonsense.
As for cornering if you're taking corners with an old little death box at speeds which the bravo can't handle then it's even crazier and in my opinion reckless and childish.

My bravo is a great weekend car because I can relax, enjoy the great sound system, open the roof and occasionally show my rear end to some golf and focus owners at a green light, not go around corners like I'm an F1 driver, that would be just stupid and dangerous.

Each to their own. If you find the daily car is enough fun for weekends then you're onto a winner (y).
The love for an old RWD go-kart death-box can be a difficult one at times, but it's down to what makes you smile.
Got to say though, I'd thought the MR2 MK3 was a newish car - I must be getting on a bit .

Glad I started a nice debate.
After a week with the bravo I'm very happy with it, a very pleasant place to be even in snow! It is quite a cocoon, quiet refined and with smooth light steering, just what I want for the commute. And with great pace when I want it. But it makes me think that the MR2, sitting low, roof down and sharp articulate steering is going to be a fantastic contrast, and even quicker! Both great in their own way for the right circumstance, and different enough to justify running 2 cars.

Nothing wrong with a High miles Bravo! My 57 plate 1.4 16v is well over 164000 and still running strong :)

Oh and I also have a steering wheel that's shedding it's coat , theres an 2009 Bravo steering wheel in good nick on ebay but wont fit an 07 because the airbags seem to have a different release mechanism. Unless i splash out on an 09 airbag to match i think i'll just have to live with it for now!

What do you mean the airbags have a different release mechanism

Well as you may know to release one of these wheel's you have to pop two holes in the sides with say a couple of small screw driver's,

Now usually you'd push the screwdriver's in to release the two pins/clips and out comes the air bag, but for some reason on the 09 and possibly later instead of the metal pin/clips on the airbag casing its thick plastic tabs that are quite difficult to push in!

Not sure how consistant this design change is or when and why the did it, It was just a problem i encountered when removing a 2009 airbag at the local breakers yard,

other's might not have had the same problem?

To be honest I think replacing the whole thing is a bit overkill. I was thinking more patched up with self adhesive plastic, trying to match it as close to the original material as possible. Sticky-back leather on ebay? Lol

Didn't someone on here fit a 500 Abarth steering wheel? There's a few on eBay, not exactly cheap but would look good.:D
