Punto (Mk1) Punto 60SX :)

Introduction

Hi everyone!

I've created this thread seeing as I've posted the old one in the wrong section! :bang: Sorry guys!

This is my first car, a MK1 Punto 60SX from 1999, also known as Jimi :slayer:

It's not perfect but it wouldn't be fun if it was!

Here's how I got it:

So, after some deep thinking, my first personal touch was a new Fiat gear knob and a white leather gaiter (I know it's too short, I'm gonna get round to it eventually!) :p :

After that my stock tweeters melted and my radio broke, so I got myself a Pioneer head unit and a pair of Alpine E-Type 4" Speakers for the front doors:

And some Alpine E-Type 6"x9" on the parcel shelf for good measure; I know what most of you will say but I have to use my boot quite often, and the sub will come... eventually ;) :

So I went further, I bought a Twin Pipe Exhaust which came with a 3 step reducer:

And this is how it looks on the Punto now:

For Christmas I got these lovelies seeing as my old ones were a complete mess! :

The other day I decided I'm gonna give my car some colour.
Step one was to get the old side moulding (to others may be known as "the plastic bits on the sides") off, get all the old tape and gunk off the car (which was a BIG, MASSIVE pain!), paint them and stick them back on.

Gave it a bit more thought and decided to do the front and the rear of the car too. Here's how it went:

When I came to do the back I had a bit of trouble:

Here are my new lovely alloys! 14"s of a Bravo, bought on eBay for £70 (including tyres and fitting that hour!) Bit of a bargain really! (y)

I must admit they're not in pristine condition but that just gives me something useful to do! I think I'm gonna refurb them and paint them white

My plan would be:
  • Refurb the alloys and paint them white
  • CC the wing mirrors and door handles (that would in green, not silver) Thoughts?!
  • Tint the rear windows to about 65%
  • Stick some decals on the quarter panels :p
  • Cut down the gear stick!
  • Get some new air vents (which look decent)

Any thoughts, comments and suggestion are more than welcome!! :D

Thanks for keeping up everyone! :peace:

a mk1? keep hold of her seeing less and less of them now. in all honesty dont like the mats much but the touch of green is different, see a few silver cars with green trim on them look quite smart ,my opinion if you going for mad colors make the rest match for e.g sticker bomb parts on it, stickers in the back window etc could do with lowering and some bigger alloys on there too :) looks good though mate keep at it

Hey! Thanks for the interest :) There is no way that Im gonna get rid of this baby!! :D Yeah, the mats could be upgraded, but they were a Xmas pressie, so getting rid of them would be plain rude until a few months later ;) I was planning on doing that this weekend! :p while all the snow keeps everyone of the roads, I'll happily paint the wing mirrors and door handles in the garage :) Instead, of sticker bombing the back I was gonna put a banner across the top of the rear window (like a sponsor or something :p) lowering will come once I'll pay the insurance, MOT, service and tax :( SPENDING SPENDING SPENDING. But one day! :D

Quick update!

Cut me gear stick down, looks real snaz now, will post the pics up soon! Also ordered a new back light and some tinting spray! ;) First will use the old light to determine the level of tint I want, and then whack it onto the proper lights! :)

BUT, and that's a massive but, my blooming head gasket went! :bang:

Sooooooo, yeah :(

Any comments, opinions and suggestion are still more than welcome :)

Cheers mate! :D I love my Punto, will never sell it for any price! (y)

The angel eyes and clear repeaters will come after I'll pay off the head gasket bill :( On that subject, angel eyes, clear repeaters and tinted rears, won't look too bad I reckon! :yum:

Got my car back from the garage, new head gasket, cambelt, filters, etc etc.
Which means, I will try and do as much as I can to make up for the lost time! (y) Will be tinting rear lights, new light for the interior, and POSSIBLY will paint the wing mirrors too! So tomorrow, gonna get down to business! :D
As for pics, they shall be up ASAP, I promise ;)

The gear stick (sorry for the bad quality pic, but what I can say... blackberries ;)):

And this is the LED light:

It's set so that it only comes on when I open the door and if I need to do something with a light I've got another 'reading' light (y) However, that does sound like a good idea :yum: Thanks man! :D

Been a while since I've seen on of these....nice to see one out and about
Not sure on the green personally but each to their own...
Couple of things you could look into as demonstrated on my previous motor
1st widemouth bumper if you can find one off a sporting or an 85 would toughen up the front without looking chavtacular, clear indicators also help:

2nd the stickers to black the pillars were still available fairly recently and werent expensive makes the roofline look lower

3rd fix your back wiper ;)

Nice looking car mate! Definitely is a sexy beast! :yum: Like how it looks untouched but actually is personalised! :D

1) I did inquire about the front and back sporting bumpers! Just waiting on some money now! :p

2) Nicely! Didn't notice it at first but I definitely do now! :D Looks nice man :D I dunno, I'm still deciding whether I should go black or green ;) Aha!

3) One day! :p

Thanks for the input though lad :)
