500 My New Abarth 500

Introduction

I went to collect my new car, as agreed, but unfortunately when I got there it turned out that the PDI had not been completed fully as the warning light for the TTC was on. As it was New Year's Day the technicians weren't in so I will now be collecting the Abarth tomorrow.

At least I got to have a good look over it and start it up. It sounds awesome. It looks fantastic and I love the colour scheme; the wheels and paint compliment each other really well. The black leather with red stitching looks great, and I didn't expect a full set of Abarth mats to be included.

I managed to get a few pictures of the Abarth, and a couple of the 500 Sport which I am going to be saying goodbye to:

Very nice!
The red A500 makes the orange sport look to have quite 'dull' paintwork which surprises me because I tend to go for non mainstream colours. Looks like the sport has been well looked after. I take it the A500 will be doing a few miles today ;) (y)

Thanks. It's not really dull, but it is a burnt orange colour and not as bright as the red. The colour doesn't photograph that well, but looks nice in the flesh.

The car is in great condition.

I get what your saying, It was just seeing the two colours together like that the Red seems to Zing, If I'd seen the Orange on its own it wouldn't have made the same impression. And as you say it always looks better in the metal :D.

Got it today. Completely chuffed, love it!

It's an absolute hoot, and really quite comfortable too. The only problem is going to be taking it easy running it in. The salesman said that there is no need, but i am still a bit old school in that respect. It won't be easy, it's a real temptress!

Congrats on the new A500 OrangeSport. (y)
Big difference when you put the 2 500s 'side by side'. The 16 inch wheels look surprisingly good.

What make tyres are now being fitted ?

congrats on the new A500, i found the damping and seats far better than my 500 which won me over

need to order mine when flu has shifted :)

Just enjoy, give it a bit of oomph but don't wellie it in the initial stages.

If you need an interpretation from my North East speak then just let me know.

I may have been down south since 1985 but you can't take the N/East out of the 66yr old teenager!!!:D

Am fighting a losing battle!

Don't worry, you don't type too Northern!

Been down South since 1985, but I won't give the B*****ds an inch. My sense of humour still goes over their heads and I love it.

No, I don't think so. In Sport Mode it is plenty fast enough, and I have been told by several people that on the road the upgrade isn't that much quicker and actually doesn't feel quite so nice.

I like the way it rides with the 16s too, and the extra performance is less of an interest to me than keeping it nice and comfy (it's the family transport as well as my toy).
