to be honest im going to need some help with the engine, i know a hell of alot about engines and sorting them out, but i really dont know where to begin with this one!
I think they might be from Compomotive -- those look like 14". (Google will find.) But a fair few folk made mini-lite alikes.
beau, what's up with the engine?

i have no idea about the wheels.

it misfires when you first start it (cold), then give it 5-10 seconds and a few revs it will clear, it sounds lumpy and wont rev cleanly, puffing out black smoke too when revved, if you slowly increase revs it will sit where ever revs you want, not missing but it doesnt sound 'clean' if you get me.

the dump valve is also not working, surging back through the turbo

spark plugs, standard are BCPR6E, should i go to 7's being turbo'd?

I hate the Boschs, too. It's just one more point to cause detonation.

You might try it on NGK 8s. If they foul, go down to no softer than 7s.

But my guess is it needs a decent session on a rolling road to set it all up (and a new BOV before the turbo eats itself).

That looks a nice repair to the wheelarch -- the welder in me would like to see close ups!

i had ecu issues on this year
might be worth a look
i wont ever buy bosch plugs hate the things
im an ngk fan too too like desmond

Good stuff! Glad someone bought it.. custard fitted the wheels way back when he owned it, i'm pretty sure they are compo's as well, sounds familiar anyway..

I run the Bosch plugs in mine, never had much issue with them but then i do change them well short of the recommended service intervals. I was intending to go to an NGK plug next time though but so far i am unsure which is the best choice tbh. Bosch ones run fine though just don't tighten them to much as i have had one snap before as well..

No idea how long this thing has sat now, i know urchin bought it and then sold it to a lad called craig who never actually got it back on road and then urchin bought it back to rescue it from death. I would just start by giving it a bloody good service, clean everything up (like DV might be ok once dismantled and cleaned) and then see where you are then.

Oh and good luck! and above all, enjoy boosted cento'dom (y)

edit: I have somewhere on my computer a good high res copy of VA logo if you want to get new side decals made up for it.

well first things first il take one of the spark plugs out and see whats in it.

then looking to do spark plugs and oil change for starters, reading that thing adrian posted says use renault oil filter, will the fiat one not fit now then? is it just because it is smaller to miss the turbo system?

i really have no idea whats been done/needs doing so im just going to find out as i go i suppose!

looking in the boot it appears to have had some plates welded in recently.

if you got the high res copy of the logo then yeah i would love it :)

its so the oil filter clears the turbo downpipe better yeah.. I seem some turbo's a normal one will fit on but it get mighty close to the down pipe, the filter i use is a renault clio williams filter so although small its designed for a 2.0 16v engine so is plenty big enough. With the smaller filter i can just about put a thermostatic sandwich plate on and still get my oil filter off without having to remove the turbo downpipe but its tight!!

I'll try find the logo soon, no idea if i still have it tbh but i'll have a look - took me a while to find a good one online but its out there.

Well done Beau - look after it. The alloys IIRC are Compomotive MLs, but I remember Custard having fouling issues with Punto GT brakes. Those wheels have been on that car ever since the magazine features were done.

Off boost, the engine should behave similar to a N/A 1108; the MF2 wouldn't come in until it's boosting. Does it idle OK? Does the exhaust smell like it's overfuelling?

It's been a few years since I've had a Cento, but I remember having a problem similar to you, it was one of the coilpacks that was failing, but not completely gone. Might be something worth checking.

this is just a guess but would the rough running be anything to do with incorrect fuel pressure may be worth looking into
