Grande Punto My Orange Fiat Grande Punto 1.9 Sporting

Introduction

Hi Guys!

I know I already have a thread in the GP section about my car but wanted one in here aswell as I know some people dont look in the GP section unless they actually own a GP and I though others may like to hae a look at my car (y)

So As with all new cars there is offten an old one. My 1.2 mk2 punto abarth was completly stock apart from the abarth lettering in the grill :slayer:

Which I part exchanced for this. 1.9 sporting

My first mod was a new head unit which I did the day I had the car abarth headlights shortly followed then a set of abarth alloys, a badgless grill and some eibach sportlines. (1st pic is before sportlines)

Future mods:
Abarth brake lights
Tint rear 3 windows (maybe)
Abarth or red fiat badge (not sure which-suggestions would be nice)
Replace foggy foglights
Cold air intake (CDA BMC replica) or K&N induction but i'm told they sound awfull.

Thanks for looking

Jordan.
Right so I intend on custom painting my FIAT badges and have started removing the paint off my red one I brought last week
heres what i'm aimimg for (my poor attempt at photoshop but you get the idea)

Thinking of using plasti dip for the outer chrome edge I was also thinking of plasti dipping my steering wheel badge and revealing the FIAT writing underneath so it would match the custom one better rather than being blue. does anyone know if you can peel plastidip off steering wheel material??:confused:
Then I'm going to get some black abarth centercaps only because my wheels are abarth wheels not because im pretending to drive an abarth :p

So just when I thought i'd be nice and sorted for the new year with my xmas money to spend on the car seems I am going to have to spend it ON the car as my gearbox bearing has finally started the dreaded whining noise :bang:  So i'm going to start shopping around in the new year for quotes but i'v been told to expect a quote for around £450 - £500 :( suppose thats better than forking out £0000's for a new gearbox but still :bang:  :( (n)
any advise on the matter would be appreciated.

I'm liking the car :) I reckon you should think about getting a front splitter :) The seat leon cupra splitter would look good. If you want something a little more daring then I think the Linea splitter (gloss black) would look pretty awesome :)

As for small changes you can do to make the car look nicer start with removing the "Punto" badge from the rear. Vinyl the front bumper behind the plate black etc... :) Change of bulbs to a brighter white and Ice white sidelights to look nice in the dark :)

As for induction K&N sound alright I think but if you want power then get a second hand GSR (Expensive and Rare but a good buy if you can). I think they did one for the 1.9?

On another note I also like the wind deflectors! Have to get some for mine :)

p.s. I never would've thought to look in the GP section for members motors type threads!

Keep up the good work (y)

Cheers mate glad you like her.

Was thinking of a splitter for a while but hear they are a B$&*A@# to fit I also want a bonnet bra  but heared they cause issues with the clear coat

The rear has already been de "punto'd" previous owner did it and kindly left me the "T" in the boot :D
Never been a huge fan of the vinyl behing the grill thing TBH much prefere the linea grill for looks but as we know they are hard to come by But some of the guys on here pull it off without like you but its just not for me.

As for induction kits iv been looking at a repo BMC Carbon fiber cold air intake I like the asthetics as you can't actually see the filter and its a nice shiney carbon fiber and because its closed in the induction sound isn't OTT

As for the wind difflectors they are the best "mod" so far i hated them at first they make the window look odd from the inside but now i love them and they look great from the outside (y)

I've also just realised I have no pics of the back of my car lol will get some when the new badge is on just need another lick of paint some clear coat to protect it and jobs a fish as they say

That was nice of them! :)

I would have to say I'm unsure of the bonnet bra idea :( It would look alright...ish but I've always wondered what's the point? I've also heard about stones getting caught under it somehow???

Better get some more pics up (y)

Oh and you just reminded me... I was going to glue the P from the Punto badge onto the right side of my grill :D

I have finished my badge! in the end I vinyled the outer part as my painting skills at tosh. 1st time I have ever vinyl wraped a shape/object and im pretty pleased with the way its come out its not perfect but hayho

Going to try and get it on the car at the weekend (will give me a reason to take pictures of it and clean it). I'm also going to vinyl wrap my steering wheel badge and see what I can come up with to make it match the rear.

Today I cleaned the car (not very well I must admit) and took her for a little photoshoot with my dad (it's his camera). Got some nice pics but thats the joys of living in the contryside https://www.fiatforum.com/gallery/data/3497/P1020604.JPG (50 https://www.fiatforum.com/gallery/data/3497/P1020604.JPG yards left of picture is one of the busiest roads in the country the M1 lol)
these are a few good ones. enjoy

I'v also put the new badge on the back I dont think I like it and seem more drawn to getting an abarth badge.

Lovin' the car, but i'd be hating Abarth badges. Don't do it, buy Abarth kit, just don't slap Abarth badges on it when it isn't one. Sacrilege, absolute sacrilege to do that to your GP.

In my honest opinion (i feel that strongly i didn't abbreviate that!)

Unfortunately your efforts have failed on this occasion mate :) but ill take it as a compliment talking of which I dropped my mate of at our local leisure center this evening were his dad runs a night class before I had chance to pull off to head home I had a crowd of people around the car saying how nice it was felt nice to have my car appreciated even if at first I thought they were going to mug me lol.

Got my car booked in at garage for gearbox so will have a curtesy car for a few days :slayer:cant wait to see what I get lol
And this evening my car took its self for a walk  Got home as usual parked on my drive (on a gradient/slope) handbreak on out of car lock car in house bla bla bla anyway just on my way down staires to eat my lesagne  and my mum shouts "why have you left your car at the bottom of the drive are you going to clean it" bearing in mind its pitch black out so i look out the window and my car had moved 10-15 feet down the road (n) luckily its not a main road and even more luckily it stopped or it would have hit another car and thats the last thing i need at the moment (non car related stuff )
