Re: My Punto

Remove rear lights and clean behind there
Pull Roof Seals up - clean the crap out of there!!
Front window top seal - remove clean - refit

Underside the car - clean any rust off Now - paint it - then seal the underside with Waxyoil or other underseal products (just standard hammerite paint wont do)

give the car a good service - Oil filter + oil
Air fitler
Brake fluid change
brake service (ie remove clean and refit / adjust)
The Gearbox fluid - remove and renew
Cambelt on the 8v aint too much of an issue due to been a Safe engine, but if its way way way past its life for doing - replace it

Mods inside
Sporting or active/hgt dash for a nice temp guage and rev counter
Stereo for something nice
A HGT or sporting centre console and handbrake?
A good hoover and carpet vac :)

Treat these cars well - they will treat you well
Motoring - a sure fire way to be broke

Re: My Punto

Thanks man i have already changed the oil and oil filter, put in a new stereo and a sub (which doesnt work). Ye i agree the dash does need some work how pricey are we talking for a new dash and centre console.

Do you know anything about colour coding the plastic on the outside of the car?
And also the Induction Kits is there a way of getting the blue elbow red?

Dash can be cheap from a scrap yard or ebay
Note tho - the Dash you put in MUST have a lower milage then yours
you then need it proxy aligning to stop it flashing and to show correct mileage :)

Centre consoles are DIY and £40 maybe?i dont know

The Elbow for the induction kit - no idea i run stock :)

Re: My Punto

For the age of my car i have extremely low mileage at only 34k so i doubt i will find a dash at a scrappy. I have looked on ebay and the only one up just now has ended just need to keep looking :D

ah right i will have to look into the centre console.

Does anyone have any opinion on alloy size when it comes to the mk2 im thinking 15 or 16?

There are 2 size alloys
The sporting / HGT come with 15's

some other like the elx hlx i think come with 14" alloys

My opinion - 15" all t way - alot of use are planning to use / currently using 195/50/15 tyres instead of the standard 185/55/15 because the rubber is cheaper and you benifit from wider tyres and grip

Do youself a favour - weak the current Steel wheels tyres down
Then get the alloys and tyres - so you can stick steelies with winter tyres when the wear is as such (crap...)

Saves messing up the alloys and you can benifit from more grip

makes sense to me to be honest i would not be fitting new alloys for at least a month or two just now, want to work through all the easy and cheap things just now such as colour coding the plastics and so on.

Also considering tinting my windows myself i have all the stuff ready to go on i have put on a tester and looked great just a lot of work. Any opinions on that?

You mean speedo/instrument cluster

Mileage of car should matter for a complete dash change, only the speedo with ODO (y)

Re: My Punto

Which sub have you got? And do you know why it doesn't work?

Its a vibe and im not 100% it recieves power but i need to wiggle the audio wires around to get anything from it i took it into an electrics shop and they said it could be inside the sub the connections are ruined so the sub is basically ruined. I personally think its a loose wire within the the actual audio wire and it just needs a new wire but i dunno

Ahh okay, yeah change the audio wires and then re assess the problem if it persists then get a new sub :)

How did the smooth siding go?

ye i will go about doing that asap.
Well i have done 1 side getting that glue off is a real pain! i think i might have went about it to fast. the back panel looks perfect really happy but the long front panel still has a lot of adhesive to come off tried everything!:bang: any tips?

Hey, looks like a nice tidy little car youve got there, (same as mine but different colour! (y) ) the dials arent too hard to change, mine came with the standard ones with just the speedo and fuel gauge  i got the dials out of a punto hgt, you dont always have to get dials with a lower mileage, i got a man to adjust mine with his computer software, hes mobile, he specializes in mileage correction, some other mods that you can do is get some alloys, paint the brakes, put a punto abarth spoiler on it (subtle but not chavvy!) tint the windows, fit a HID kit, get a sporting leather steering wheel, and much more, the thing i love about owning a punto is all the mods are soooo cheap!! good luck mate! (y)

Hey man cheers for commenting :)
how would i go about getting the dials? and is it pretty easy to get the mileage sorted?
Alloys are on the list and also the callipers should be red within 2 weeks got all the stuff i need waiting to go on :)
Ye i have been looking at these abarth spoilers im still not 100% on them but a good thing to consider.
I have tinting kits waiting to go on just a pain in the ass i have already tried and failed!
I still dont know what a HID kit is im guessing its to with the lights? If so im looking to put angel eyes on.
Also i have a steering wheel in mind its a bit chavy and probably wont go with the car i will give you guys a link to the alloys and steering wheel ive been looking at tell me what you think

If i was you i would try and stick with genuine parts, you can pick up a second hand leather steering wheel on ebay for about the same price of that one, theyre all interchangeable, the wheels i would do the same, i would get some sporting wheels or abarth wheels, ive got Fiat coupe 20v turbo wheels on mine and i love them! the dials are quite easy to get sorted if you have someone that can do mileage correction near you, the guy i used is mobile, but he only really goes round the M25, the spoiler is a great idea, get one thats painted, then glue is on with some tigerseal, but you will need to leave it for a day with some weight on it, i know someone that is breaking a sporting, i can ask him how much he wants for the dials if you want?
