Last week my 2004 1.2 Punto Active Sport died on me :( I was on way home from work when after 1 mile it started to lose power (totally cut out) then run ok, this went on for about another mile or so till it came to a stop. Would turn over ok but not start. Checked for fuel at rail but dry, could hear pump prime with ign on but no fuel. Removed cover under seat @ pump and fuel press ok. At this point I got towed back to a colleagues house who has diagnostic equipment so while he connected this I checked a few other things (connectors etc) all ok. The equipment came up with a P0345 crankshaft position sensor (I'm not convinced), cleared that and it started so drove it 10 miles with no problems. Next morning non start again but no codes  and same no fuel @ rail. Done a couple of things & the last thing I done was disconnect charcoal canister pipe that goes to fuel rail and car starts no probs. It lay for a couple of days as I am on call and use works vehicle, came home today & guess what? Yes non start. Tried disconnecting canister hose again but no joy(n). Would have done a bit more tonight but rain stopped play will resume tomorrow if anybody has any ideas.

Hi s and b I'm not convinced about the ckp as been caught out before with fitting parts just by code reading without any hard evidence but will do more checks tomorrow, just can't understand where fuel press gone at prime? ckp doesn't control that.

whilst i see what you are saying its unusual for a sensor to work not work then work
have you also considered the fuel pump is weak and actually packing up although i would expect it to at least blow a fuse
ive had bad earths cause poor fuel pump pressure on fiestas so could be worth checking

Right finally I'm going to go for a ckp, checked it yesterday and the bloody thing starts again. Today it didn't and managed to keep it from starting while I ran some basics to which I found that there is fuel but no spark or injector pulse (don't know how I managed to miss the fuel before). Will get ckp tomorrow and try. Fingers crossed.
