Punto (Mk2/2b) Punto Dynamic Multijet 1.3

Introduction

Havn't posted pics of this up in full before so here it is.
i hasten to point out it's completely standard, not a single modification unless you count the non-genuine rear bumper that the repair company is currently trying to fob me off with.

By hand, (headlamps off the car and on a bench- Using G3,

these where on pug 207 headlights tho, which are Massive compared to punto ones,

even tried one of them re-store kits off ebay it went in the bin, :(

With a proper polisher it will be done in no time at all, I use autosmart's "waffle" pads which have a waffle type texture to the front of the pad to keep more of the compound on the cutting surface, rather than it just getting splattered everywhere and doing nothing

Ok so I have caved in and curiosity has gotten the better of me, I've decided to give winter tyres a go.

But there is a 'But' and that's that I refuse to pay £200-300 to try something out so contrary to popular advice I decided to hit ebay.

Taking a gamble on a set of tyres that a very poor description and out of focus pictures, I got the impression they'd not been used much and as it transpired they hadn't.....been used hardly at all!

So I've just picked up a set of 4 NOKIAN WR G2 tyres with 8mm tread for £42 (£10.50 a corner) now it could turn out one has a puncture or other problem but having given them a good look over I can't see any problems as yet, the woman who sold them had bought a Nissan Leaf and these didn't fit, she says they were on the car a few months but they are barely touched,

Will see the garage about getting them fitted tomorrow and see how we get on, but looking about the site quite a few people rate NOKIAN winter tyres so I'm pretty chuffed with them

The official measurements look good
In places the moulding marks aren't even worn off

Decided to finally change my back brake shoes today after 115,000 miles they looked like they might just about be run in, realistically though the handbrake wasn't holding as well and the braking performance had dropped off a bit so I think the drums may have built up a glaze and the pads hardened with age and heat.

Still not bad going for a set of shoes

Shiny and new

Old ones not looking very worn at all

I now have a much more responsive brake pedal but I suspect the hand brake cables might need renewing in the not too distant future and they're a bit stretched and have a bit of spring in them

About a week ago our mini decided it wanted a brake fluid change at 46kmiles and the service indicator has to be reset by mini so I guess it will be getting one (fortunately all covered under a pre paid for service plan) but my punto as far as I know has never had one mainly cause I really hate bleeding brakes

I dont mind bleeding brakes
IF all the nipples undo with ease

But otherwise I avoid it

Ok so although I will probably be saying good bye to this car soon I simply had to do this mod as I really like the look (I say mod it's original fiat parts)

The front grill always looked fine but the silver chrome detail is beging to rub off after 10 years of being washed and 117k of bugs and stone chips.

So new grill required, old one removed and 10 years of grime cleaned out.

And here is the new one its a new old stock punto classic circa 2008 swap the badges over and pop it back on.

And here is the finished result, very subtitle but looks 10 times better than the old dirty black grill.

These look better with the red badges but I don't suspect I'll be keeping the car long enough for it to matter.

This is now back on its original 54 number plate so will be going up forsale at the end of the week.

Tons of paperwork, I've owned it since 2008 and am only the second owner.

Alloys aircon remote locking (2 keys) and electric Windows.

If anyone is interested I'll sell to a forum member for £700 for a quick sale, otherwise it's going on eBay and will see what happens, very few of these diesel 1.3 multijets around at the moment. 118k mostly motorway miles.

Well 2 years since I sold it and it’s still going strong, looked like it just passed it’s MOT although looking at the fail history I suspects it’s not long for this world as the rust is beginning to take hold.

If anyone sees it about do let me know. Reg YS54EKL

130,000 miles had 118 when I sold it so it’s had a much easier 2 years since I sold it

Hello, I have a 2007 Fiat Punto 1.3 multijet with the automatic trans and I was just wondering where the speed sensor is for it for the life of me I can't find it. Thanks!

Aside from the fact this is the mark2 forum and yours being a 2007 is likely to be a grande. And this is a members motors thread rather than starting a new thread detailing the problem you have in a new thread.

The simple answer to your question is your car doesn’t have a speed sensor, it uses the signal from the abs sensors at the wheels
