Stilo Mercers 1.6 dynamic 16v - All mods/Fixes/Updates

might be a tad late but u could always cancel your new policy free within certain amount of days but anyways
i had a 1.6 and at 20 only cost me 600 for the year, 1 years no claims admiral multi quote, but the biggest difference was adding my parents as named drivers their combined experience dropped it by like £500 and on my new car 2.5litre adding them saved me £800....

p.s if your wanting some wheels i have some to list, 17" multispoke matt black loads tread on all for prob min 6mm, plus wobble bolts msg me if you want pic...

yes interested. send a few pics pls

WELL HEY !

not updated in a while on here..

ok so.. me front disks have gone so they need replacing.. (FAIL)
not long got new pads.. disks seemed fine at the time

but she has started her transformation..

this is just the base coats atm. on the bonnet and front bumper..
the bonnet, middle front bumper and roof are going high gloss black..
i got alot of layers to lay down and alot of wet and dry action...

i am also re-spraying the red, with a nice bright red(high gloss)

then shes being dropped and having new wheels

as you can see i have taken the side bumperstrips off. im removing all of them that are on the car and smoothing it all out,
*i have ordered diamond zigzag mesh to replace all grilles
also the front left and right bumper bottom grilles are being sprayed red so it blends with the red paintwork

oh and you can also now see the extreme fading to the paintwork i have on my car.

this is because the car was previously kept beside the coast and the salt air and sun has damaged it

Well is this even the same car?..

She has just a few more coats left to do before the high gloss clear laqure finish and her fiat steelys have been transformed too !

I have a little more work to do on her before I give her a lower stance.
I am thinking about coilys...

Window tints next week Too !

I've never heard of that paint you talk about (I am a bit of a dinosaur though ) is it really so good that you don't need to mask anything? Surely if it peels off the glass then it will also peel off painted panels?

Still a lot of masking to be done though, the windoew are easy to mask so no real benefit there, but what about everything else such as door handles, wipers, lights, window rubbers, door shuts, etc? Also what about paint prep, I presume it has to be sanded & flattened before applying the new stuff? Just wondering if maybe it's more work than you realise?

Dohh! Forget all I said, I missed a couple of pages of the thread and now realise things have moved on.

Google plastidip paint.
There's a u.s company and a u.k company. Also dipmyride.com

Also I didn't use plastidip in the end. This is my work with normal spraypaint.

Thanks guys.
Yeh im getting new wheels . 17 deep dish. Stretched tyres.
So I revamped the steelys till then.

Omg.. He's only gone and done the wheels with airbrush !

Personally i don't think much of teh glossifer, if i were you i would go satin when your bored you can peel it off and start again i think i would go for a nice purple or lime green, but remeber you will need to send you logbook of for colour change, i am gonna use plastidip on my wheels for the winter purely to protect them but whilst i am at it may do my wheels purple for a laugh

lol.. plastidip are sold out of glossifier. :( :bang:

looks like im going matte for now

I'm getting my Stilo wrapped matte purple in the summer ;) group buy for 3 people 700 quid, take it doing the plastidip would be a bit cheaper than that??

is that a 3 for £700, if so thats well cheap, matt purple is nice, i am having my roof done black soon, the thing is with plasti dip if you try and do a car with spray cans its comes out pants, it needs to be done with a propa gun i notice they use hlvp spray guns which you can get for as little as £50

Yep 3 people for 700, it's through a friend of a friend who works at a reputable wrap specialist close to me, I just can't be bothered with respraying my car and getting it to look nice with the standard paintjob, matte purple in the right shade would look immense on a Stilo. Hmm I might look into getting one and giving it a shot, you can just peel it off the lights and windows when it's done right?

YEH... its cheaper..

im using a Plastidip Reccomended Sprayer HVLP one
was gonna buy a compressor and gravity fed gun but they are Very Very Expensive for one with a decent volume tank that wont run out of air between coats..
the hvlp reccomended ones work perfectly

to get a proper finish its 5 liters of paint. £80 a tin

ive started building a plastiDipping Buisness..
will have everything setup by jan and im ready to roll (or dip) lol

:bang: ok. THE CLUTCH HAS JUST GIVEN UP ON ME.. AGAIN..

got stranded in london. took the AA 7 hours to get me back to newport south wales via3 different trucks.

fun eh! :bang:

can anyone give me links to the following..

-Brand New Master And Slave Clutch Cylinder 1.6 stilo

-A New clutch... seen then on ebay... i wana go for stage 2 but they are really pricey compare to normal ones that are like 60 quid

i wana replace the solid clutch hydraulic lines with Braided Ones..
there is a little weird cylinder inline the hydraulic line on the stilo 1.6 its hidden down by the gearbox before the line goes into the slave cylinder...

do i need that inline or can i just use hydraulic lines from the master to the slave

lets get this baby back on the road
