Grande Punto My 1.2 Active GP Black

Introduction

So this is my baby. I call her Phoebe lmao. now a list if what ive done/doing to her.

  • Tinted windows full black on rear windows
  • Tinted front windows to legal requirement
  • added wind deflectors
  • added punto decal (white) on the sides above skirts
  • added punto decals to wing mirrrors
  • punto overlay on rear middle break light (see pictures)
  • removal of punto badge on boot
  • added Aux lead to radio
all very basic things that set the car off nicely

things im currently doing:
  • alloys. already purchased there being delivered wednesday morning (silver multispoke wolfrace 15")
  • debadging front grill. again waiting for it to be delivered then a quick black spray and ill fir that no problem
  • also looking to fix the condensation in rear fiat badge
what i wanna do in the future. well theres only really lowering it that i really wanna do. but price is an issue. not just to have it done but i reckon insurance will rape me if i do that.

so what you think? i will of course post photos weekend of the Alloys and debadged grill. but for now a little imagination is necessary :D

Hi Matthew, it's looking good, very neat. When you removed your boot badge was there any holes drilled in the boot behind it for mounting? Reason is my boot lid fills with water and I think it may be getting in from behind the badge. Water runs out of the drain holes at each corner when you lift the lid to head height. Well known issue with some of the GP.

Defo need lowering, also maybe some Abarth Headlights, and maybe have ago at tinting the rear lights. Looking nice though, keep it up! :slayer:

Yeh lowering is next on the agenda. I'll be honest with you I like the lights on the front. They brighten the car up and match my stripe I think. But i will be tinting the rear lights definately. Just a matter of time. I'm also about to paint my drums and callipers black. Derusted them this weekend so just a case of having 6 hours spare lmao. For the drying time etc (I also need to get hold of some axel stands for this). Thanks for the compliments.

thank you very much :) And yes there's two holes behind the badge in the boot but I'll be honest there very small and the back off the badges has two pins that seem to match perfectly. Plus there's a piece of adhesive that runs right around the pins on the back so if stuck correctly water cant get near the pins at all anyway. So if any water did get in from there. I Really couldn't imagine there being much at all plus the angle of the pin holes are horizontal so they would actually have to run behind the badge and some how mange to run horizontally along the pins . . Its obviously not perfectly water tight but honestly chances of water getting in from there and actually building up enough for water to pour out would be slim in my opinion. Could it be Getting in from the rubber seal around the edge maybe?

Couldn't you put some Dye in some water and then poor the water over the badge at the back and then see if it actually getting in from the badge or like Matt said - Rubber Seals

Think you have to change the cables on the back of the lights or something, so i've heard

I'm sure you also have to do something to trick the computer into knowing they are fitted also. Seems so much hassle. And I don't think they match the grande anyway. I might just tint em cuz I'm lazy like that lol, After I finish painting my drums and callipers then getting it lowered which is what Im doing at the moment. It's all just a matter of time though. Don't wanna do it all in one go, plus I actually don't have much time. I'm a season ticket holder with West Bromwich Albion and as the new season starts I will have less and less time lol.

I seriously don't get what you guys see in all this daft messing around with badges....

You remove a Punto badge from the boot, then put Punto stickers down the side and on the mirrors...

Then you replace the red Fiat badge on the boot because it's a bit misty, but remove the same badge from the front grille (and everyone jumps around saying how awesome it looks!).

It's a Fiat Grande Punto, why not enjoy it as it is.. the Italians know a bit about styling after all.

Just everyone's opinion and what they like and people like there own Custom car, why keep it the same as most?

Lol. The debadged front grill isn't anything against it being a fiat. It's a style modification that makes the front look nicer not me trying to pretend Im driving a Ferrari. Don't be so angry about it. And if you look at my car there is no modifications other than the grill. Even the side stripe is offered by fiat as an extra. I'm proud that it's a punto and show it off as such. Out of curiosity how many other threads you moaned in or is it just against me? Because frankly your opinion and that of everyone else's is just that, an opinion. Don't like it? Don't look at it. If you do like it then thank you, but i dont need aproval to do what I want with MY car with MY hard earned cash. Im not forcing you to drive it am I? Put your anger into something constructive would ya. You will go much further in life (y)

I thought the Arbarth lights were a straight forward swap. Disconnect loom and connect up new loom??

Wot about the front Arbarth lights............are they the same pain in the Ar55e ????

Thats a waste of money and time :p, but i suppose someone has to support them

I love my baggies. Im so proud of them, and there's no one that dislikes West Brom other than our local derbys. As we're a no fuss team, we just play and don't bother getting into all the controversy big clubs do. Admit it west brom are pretty cool

looks smart mate, would look a lot better without the decals and put on it's ass but it is a nice car, keep up the work bro
I love my decals :( lol. And yeh lowering is definately on the agenda. Just waiting for the right time, as I've said earlier Im a busy fella lol. But thank you for the compliments. I do love my little car and it's ever so little engine (seriously its tiny, you ever seen a 1.2 engine. There's nothing in there but a radiator, battery and lots of air haha)

I believe there much easier to fit, like Sean says below I was on about the Evo lights, in regards to the question you asked I haven't looked into changing the lights at all as at the moment I don't fancy doing it. And it's knowledge I don't need at the moment lol. So I can't help you but I know there's loads of threads and a guide or two about it :)

The Abarth lights are, there on aboutthe rear lights off a punto evo which are led lights ;)
oh right there LED? Now I understand the hassle with fitting em. Well slightly. Like I said above, I don't really know much about the lights etc I haven't been too interested in changing them.

Yeah i have a Mk2 5dr 1.2 loads of room in the engine bay, the airbox is bigger than the engine haha!

And yeah It's smart doesn't need much more doing to it, decals are just personal preference i suppose i just prefer a cleaner simpler look but as long as you like your car that's all that matters(y)

Its to do with the led's heating the circuit up as the cricuit is not made for leds only halogen bulbs similar thing when changing to HID's you have to change the wiring because the circuit wont take it (y)
