Did you ever sort the HGT rear axle out?

As its only 3 bolts each side to unscrew the beam axle from the Car
Disconnect the Brake lines
Disconnect the Handbrake cable

I did a straight swap (1.2 8v axle for 1.2 8v axle in about 3 hours, inc brake bleeding

and away you go :)

No i haven't got around to it yet, haven't had the time and i am about to go on holiday next week aswell, my plans are in this order at the moment:
1. Coilovers
2. Abarth front and rear bumpers and sporting spoiler fitted
3. HGT rear brake conversion
4. Colour Coding

All will be happening in the next month or so (y)

My issue is with a HGT rear axle is quiet simple

you have the same brakes the front as you will the rear

Now they work fine on the front due to weight been there
But rear.... i dunno.....

Okay the rears do little compared to the fronts...
plus it looks off in my eyes, as most cars are Fronts bigger then rears
Or atleast vented

Well off the top of my head i'ld say a set of good used calipers would be about £40 and you'll also need the mounting bracket too which should'nt cost a lot,a set of pads and discs (about £30 for the set) and maybe a new handbrake cable. To fit should be a doddle (I'm not sure how much mechanical knowledge u know) but if you can change a set of pads then you'll have no trouble doing this (y) and not only will they look better but your braking will be improved greatly :D

how does this work then?
i assume you have abs set up on this axle so the pads dont lock the discs or are you using the compensator valve as fitted to later axles? what did you set the bias up at? i would be interested to know, what kind of figures does a brake roller show under light braking?

not nice pointing the other way when you dont mean it to happen because back wheels locked up and you spin out of control---- been there got the hat ---(n)--and trust me once it goes just sit back and enjoy the ride coz it is a ride and because adhesion lost theres nothing you can do baby

now about your insurance with non oe modifications what does the engineers report say? should make interesting reading

:D:D

anyway have a nice day yaere

how does this work then?

Quite easily actually, firstly it's a straight swap, and secondly discs are a much better type of brake than a drum so it's more efficient at slowing the wheel down

.......... I'm certain his punto does have ABS and would'nt be to difficult to adapt the wiring to suit and seen as though he would be fitting a disc/calliper set up from the same type of car (and read this very carefully now) THERE IS NO DANGER OF HIS ARSE END OVERTAKING HIS ENGINE........ He'd have to have brakes from a Nissan gtr and one heavy foot to get any of the hats you've got :D

The car is lowered around 30-35mm in this pic but since then i have gone down to 35-40mm (y)
I have yet to fit the front bumper grills that will be done this week sometime aswell as getting a new front badge to match the rear red one.

The next major mods will probably be the interior, get the rear windows tinted and custom built induction kit.

Great work you'r car is very cool i love the rims :)

Can you show a picture of your 40mm TB please? :p
